4 tips for Working Out While Travelling

4Workout-Tips-While-TravelWorking out while travelling may seem like an annoying chore to some, or may simply be part of your every day routine. If you can’t bring your gym equipment with you while you travel, pack a gym outfit (which can be super comfortable to wear on an airplane!) and get going at your destination.

Here are some simple workout routines you can do without any weights, machines, or gadgets.

Explore the city! If you get lost easily, only make right hand turns, or vice versa. Bonus is if you find a local park and jump on a set of monkey bars. This will work on your core strength. If running isn’t your thing, find a set of stairs and do laps on them. Run up as fast as you can, then back down.

Chinups on a tree branch

This will make you feel like a kid again, and I’m all about feeling and acting young as often as possible. This is so fun, it won’t even feel like working out. Mind you, I can probably do 3 and I’m done for. But hey, I’m workin’ on it ;)

Pushups, situps, lunges, burpees and one-legged squats

I think they’re all pretty self-explanatory and they don’t require weights. These were all the workouts we did while I had a CrossFit membership, and boy did they kick my butt.

More into stretching and yoga?

Hang out with the lights dimmed in your hotel room, or find a quiet park, stretch and do a bit of yoga to ease and relax your mind.

  1. I stay fit by putting down my phone and playing like a kid at the playground with my two year old. I get more than enough exercise this way! Its great for both of us. I’ve retired the jogging stroller until the temps are below 100 degrees here.

  2. I stay fit by walking and/or jogging with my baby in my baby stroller. I also like to go to local gyms when I am on the go or traveling. I always make sure wherever I am staying they have a great gym nearby.

  3. Nice tips. I love running, specially on the beach. But with the winter so rainy and cold, i have to use the gym’s treadmills. This makes listening to music mandatory. Also i use the stairs as much as i can.

When i’m travelling i try to use the hotel gym or do exercises at the room itself. Pushups, squats and so on.

PS: Great pictures. You both look awesome.

  4. I usually lose weight when travelling, from walking and swimming daily. I ditch the weights on holiday.
I want to work out outside more.

  5. I try to take the stairs whenever possible and if I want to go somewhere close, I walk rather than drive. It takes longer but on a nice day, it’s great.
