My Mom’s last few days here in California was right before everything was shutdown due to COVID. One of our last outings was to Palo Alto to browse around the beautiful Stanford Shopping Center. After that we drove across a few streets to get to the Town and Country Village, where I know they have a prAna store. I LOVE that store so much. In the past (around 2017, and 2018) I worked with them fairly regularly to promote new launches and new campaigns they had social media influencers working on.
I’m no stranger to prAna’s clothing as I remember my friends back in Newfoundland wearing them while we went climbing, back in the late 90s! So when I had the chance to work with them and try their clothing out for myself, I was hooked. I still have and wear most of the items that they sent me in the past. They wash and hold up incredibly well, even if you chuck them into the dryer. I still can’t get over how they still look pretty much brand new.
So, I waltzed into the Palo Alto store, tried on a handful of things I knew I wanted to try, and walked out with an updated (and smaller!) pair of leggings for myself. I liked the oversized fit (and especially the colour) of this cozy up sweatshirt, but I didn’t like how it bunched around my waist.
You can tell I felt great in this outfit! These are the transform leggings I ended up buying. For my birthday, I asked my husband to pick up the cozy up summer pullover for me – and he did. I’m pleased as punch.
These are the transform leggings in the green shade. I liked them a lot too, but I knew I’d get more wear out of the black ones. Plus, I already have a pair of olivey-greenish leggings.
I clearly did not want to leave the dressing room without buying the top too, but I couldn’t justify dropping all that cash at once, even though I reallllllllly loved the top. I knew I wanted to walk in there and get an updated pair of leggings.
Have you ever worn prAna’s clothing before?
Gosh, can you believe how ancient I am? I’ve been climbing for 21 years! The reason this is relevant to today’s blog post, is because I remember the days of indoor climbing back home in Newfoundland and seeing my pals wearing prAna gear.
Skip forward 21 years and I’m living in the same state where prAna started their business, Carlsbad California. It’s kinda cool really, and I’m loving how well known they’ve gotten over the years. You might even remember my #SpiffykermsprAna instagram giveaway that I hosted last year directly with prAna with their new retail store in Palo Alto. Two people won outfits from their collection, and I’m still rockin and wearing those striped yoga pants. Love’em.
Digging the sweater, since it dips into your waist a little bit giving you a nice figure flattering shape, instead of a regular sweater where it just looks a little boxy.
Here I’m wearing the prAna Mattea Sweater (recycled wool), and the London Jeans (organic cotton jeans, which are now on sale!), on my feet I’m wearing a pair of suede wedge peep toe booties that a friend GAVE me. I know! I love them. Here’s a close up:
prAna’s mission is to inspire healthy, active, and free-spirited living. Since there was a mild crispness in the air this Labour Day weekend, I thought it was perfect timing to wear my sweater from prAna to show you some pieces that are upcoming to their Fall Collection, this was the outfit I wore yesterday! I’m happy to see they bring back the classics from last year — I spotted the exact sweater on their website when I was doing my giveaway last year.
What did you guys do this weekend? We had a pretty low-key Labour Day weekend, as Mr. Spiffykerms came down with a bit of a head cold on Friday. Just in time for the weekend right? Poor guy.
We were productive though, and washed some of the bikes down, ya’know gave them a little yearly bath so to speak. Let me tell you. That’s a bit of a #WeirdWorkout if there ever was one. Either that, or I’m gettin’ old. My back is a little sore from crouching down in my flip flops and jogging pants for a good hour giving these old bikes a sponge bath! Haha.

If there’s any uniform that calls my name – it’s this one. I will always be wearing these prAna leggings, and a black tee. I have multiples of both. This time I’ve paired it with my new Foo Fighters hoodie that I bought at their concert back in August, and some new Sperry Walker Chelsea boots. I know it’s not the typical footwear that you would see in the fall. Rainy season here, isn’t until the spring. However, chasing after two young boys who would love dirt. I thought this was the best option for me at this time in my stage of motherhood… rubber boots for me! I love them, they’re cute right? They’re something I can slip on and off easily without bending down to put on a shoe or tie laces, especially with a baby in my arms. Mornings are often chaotic and I reach for the easy to put on shoes.
You’ve probably seen me post about Sperry for years. But the thing is is that I only work with brands that I would buy myself or just genuinely love the brand. I’ve also said this before but Sperry is a brand that my parents used to wear on my uncle’s boat for years and to years until the boat was sold (I’m no sailor myself lol…. I’m prone to see sickness and I don’t know if that is something easily overcome and I don’t really want to find out ha!) But I do love the look of a classic boat shoe canvas boat shoe.
