MAKE UP FOR EVER Water Blend Foundation

mufe-HEADER

If you were a huge fan of the Make Up For Ever Face + Body foundation, you might’ve already heard the news that this new foundation that Make Up For Ever launched, is now replacing that. It’s always such a bummer when one of your favourite foundations becomes discontinued, the struggle is real. In the back of my mind I had always wanted to try the Face + Body foundation since it was a lightweight formula, that allows your skin to breath yet look incredible and dewy on the face (and bod!). However, I never did get around to trying it out.

MUFE-Water-Blend

mufe-water-blend-blendedWhen I first received the PR parcel, I was disappointed in it. BUT! It’s only because I applied it on to the back of my hand, and it literally looked like nothing. Don’t let that fool you, you gotta try it out on your face to get an accurate representation of it. It’s completely different on your face. I usually go for a 3 pump’er of it, which admittedly is a little much. But as for review sake, I applied 1 pump to the back of my hand in the photo above, and blended it out with my fingers.

I don’t like to use my fingers when applying foundation, so I usually grab my real techniques buffing brush and use that. The water blend foundation is made up of 80% water. And that’s exactly how it feels when blending it into your skin. It’s like you just washed your face brushes and applied it with no product. That’s how lightweight it feels on the skin.

Review of DHC Cleansing Oil + more

DHC-Cleanser-header

DHC-Cleansing-OilIt’s my second time bringing up DHC’s products, and if you missed the post back in August, I’ll give you a quick rundown of it. DHC is a skincare brand from Japan,

I’ve never tried a cleansing oil before, mainly due to the fact I’m still pretty happy with my philosophy purity cleanser. But this was neat to try out for a month or two, while I set my purity cleanser aside for a bit to truly give this cleansing oil a good go.

Remember that I have dry/dehydrated skin. Any cleanser that doesn’t leave my skin feeling tight is a winner in my books. Luckily the DHC Cleansing Oil ($28 USD) (Canadian pals: you can shop DHC on Amazon Canada!) allows my face to feel nourished after the fact. You have to use this cleansing oil with dry hands, and apply it onto a dry face to remove all traces of makeup. I use about 1-2 pumps each night and that’s sufficient for the removal of all the makeup I wear on a semi-daily basis. I don’t wear waterproof mascara so I don’t know how well it works for that (but it does claim it removes it well!). It’s not surprising that the cleansing oil has a 5 star review with over 5,000 people reviewing it.

It’s definitely a nice cleanser. At first I thought it was going to be too oily on my skin and leave a residue. It didn’t. In fact, it felt like a really light olive oil (that’s the best way I can describe it) and it washes off with water leaving your skin feel rehydrated, yet dissolving the makeup easily. It doesn’t get all oily-feeling in your eyes, nor does it make your skin feel oily/sticky after the fact. I’m digging it.

A Tangle Teezer Update

tangle teezer flatlayThis time last year I wrote about Tangle Teezer vs. Drybar‘s lemon drop. I thought I’d update you on how things are going with that; in case you cared.

To jump right into it, I’m still using both on an everyday basis. Since I don’t wash my hair regularly (I wash it every 2-3 days), I am reaching more towards the tangle teezer to brush in my dry shampoo mostly. But when I do wash my hair, I blow dry it with the Drybar brush. They both have a purpose in my hair routine. I’ve now integrated a compact Tangle Teezer that I received for review. I said yes, because I’ve seen them sold at stores and I was curious as to why they’d market a travel friendly size tangle teezer when the regular size travels just as well. Um and look at the enormous selection of colours to choose from! I stuck with a classic black, since I already own a hot pink one.
