bareMinerals Holiday 2015

bareMinerals Holiday 2015

bareMinerals-HolidaybareMinerals Holiday Collection is something I know my sister-in-law would jump all over. In fact, when she was visiting us here in California last month — we both went on the hunt for a perfect lavender eyeshadow for her. Low and behold, the ever so popular MAC store didn’t have it; and guess who freaking did? You got that darn tootin’ right: bareMinerals! So cheers to them for creating gorgeous soft pastel shades (along with other fun colours too, duh) during the fall months so people like my SIL can buy them! Hooya.

bareMinerals Holiday 2015Wait. I was going somewhere with this. The bareMinerals Holiday collection. Let’s get into it. I’m kinda digging my holiday photos, it’s fine to toot your own horn once in a while, am I right? I’m even seeing some people mimic it on insta. Am I a trend setter? Where’s that laughing-crying face emoji when you need it? I’m being sarcastic you guys.

bareMinerals Holiday 2015

Pop-of-Passion-swatchPrecious Gems. Pop of passion lip oil-balm trio
I say the best time of year to shop for makeup is during the Christmas/Holiday season. You get an excellent deal, and hey you can even split them up for gifts for your friends. And well, if you like the products that much – you can just simply keep them for yourself. You can see from the swatches on my hand of the Precious Gems that they’re a light wash of colour, with a hint of tint. Super moisturizing, and pop it in your pocket to reapply on the go without a mirror.

bareMinerals The Royal Court

The-Royal-Court-trioThe Royal Court
Can we say YAAAAASSS to this trio? I’ve been waiting for a nice blush/bronzer duo I would actually use and carry around with me. I think I love it even more because it has Golden Gate named as a blush colour. The pigment in this trio is unreal, like a lot of bareMinerals product, you don’t need a lot. I love the sleekness of this palette, it’ll fit into my small (although snugly) cosmetic pouch.

Love how bareMinerals products don’t have pretentious names. I recall going into a fancy skincare + makeup store in San Francisco, talking with one of the managers and he corrected me on how I mispronounced the name of the store. I mean, I don’t phonetically pronounce things often. Guess it’s my newfie twang coming out, mispronouncing things. Or, that could just be me in general. Why am I bringing humour to this blog post? Perhaps becaus I don’t want to just describe a product how it is, but bring a bit of personality to it. Make it more interesting for you to read? Who knows. The next post could be completely different and opposite.

bareMinerals The Regal WardrobeThe Regal Wardrobe.
Look at all those easy to wear neutrals for your eyes and face. This is the type of present you can give to any woman, especially if they’re just starting out with makeup. It has everything! Kinda reminds me of a wardrobe I’d love to have in a mansion. An armoire full of clothing, but instead. Full of bareMinerals treats and goodies. Some brands really know their packaging. bareMinerals is one of them. Either that, or it’s their Graphic Designer. Anyone need to hire one? Aka me? I can do cool things too. Not to mention their product. I’ve been using bareMinerals off and on for the past 10 years when I first got into makeup. I’d love to see them create some more cream blushes, cause I’m all about that.

bareMinerals Swept AwaySwept Away
This is a wonderful little travel set of brushes. And best yet? They DON’T shed. I like pretending I’m a bit of a minimalist when I have these on my bathroom vanity, pretending I don’t have all these extra brushes under the sink. Voila. That’s all you need. In fact,I personally wouldn’t even use all of these because I tend to double-dip in multiple products with one brush. Is that a no-no? I do it anyway. Seems to be fine, as long as you wash your brush afterwards. I do know how to layer correctly. Foundation, Bronzer then apply blush with the same brush. See? Pretty good.

bareMinerals Swept AwayI have no doubt in my mind, my SIL would love this entire collection. Shauna, c’mon down again girlfran…. why did I say that? I never say “girlfran…”. That’s all I have friends. Hopefully you enjoyed the bareMinerals holiday collection (probably all limited edition too. So if you wnat to pick it up, you’ll have to go sooner than later. Clearly).

Long wearing eyeshadow from Dior State of Gold

Dior-Blazing-HeaderCan we just take a step back and admire this long wearing eyeshadow from the Dior’s State of Gold collection? I’ve never felt something more cool in my life. Might be a bit of an exaggeration, but the formulation of this long wearing eyeshadow in the colour 631 BLAZING is neat.

Blazing-StateOf-Gold-Shadow

Size-of-Blazing-eyeshadowI mean, look at that glow. The colour reminds me a smidge of the shade Kitten, by Stila Cosmetics. Although I feel as if this one has a bit more silver and gold in it as opposed to the kitten is more of a champagne shade. Both equally beautiful colours and easy to wear on the eye. If you have fine lines, aka like me, you can wear this without issue, it doesn’t sink into any lines on my lids at all.

Blazing-Dior-SOGIt’s a little moussey in texture, with a bit of a bounce back. I might go as far as saying it’s a bit spongey feeling even.

Dior-Blazing-eyeshadowThe colour payoff is excellent, and could add that hint of glam to the eyelids without it looking like you tried too hard. Without an eyelid primer, I applied this straight to my semi-oily eyelids (too much information?) and the colour stuck for a good 5 hours. By the end of the day you could still see a shimmering sparkle to my lids but not as bold as it was when first applied.

Blazing-StateOf-Gold-ShadowOne tip I have for whether it be creamy eyeshadows, or mousse-like one’s like the Blazing shown here, is that you need to store it upside down in the jar to prevent it from drying out from top to bottom. Especially if you want to hold onto it and not wear it daily/weekly.

Blazing long-wearing eyeshadow would look gorgeous to wear to a holiday party this year simply applied to the center/top of the eyelids to add a special sparkle to your signature holiday makeup look you may create. Think you’ll pick this one up?

Dior State of Gold nail polishes

Dior State of Gold nail polishesOh boy. Those little Christmas bulbs are back, by Dior. With a few beauts in tow and one dud in my opinion. I mean. If we’re being honest and all.

Dior State of Gold nail polishesI’ve been loving how simple my Holiday photos have been, lately. I feel like it looks so Christmasy. Dior and Sally Hansen nail polishes (quite the difference between high end and drug store price range) are my favourite formula, along with the polish brushes itself. Both brushes are wider than the average nail polish brush, and can coat the entire nail in one solid swipe. The tip of the Dior and Sally Hansen nail polishes have a c-shaped dome-like brush on it, getting close to the cuticle for a crisp sharp finish. Making your manicure look professionally done, even if applied quickly.

Dior State of Gold nail polish

Dior State of Gold nail polishesEven though I do get sent Dior product for review, I have been buying quite a bit from them lately. I still use their Dior Hydra Life BB cream, along with a gel top coat that acts like a shellac top coat polish on your nails. It’s fantastic, and doesn’t get goopy. I’ll talk about that in another post, though.

Let’s see them all on my nails. That’s why you’re here right?

Dior-Gris-OrDiorific Vernis in the shade 227 GRIS-OR

Let’s just get it right out in the open and over with. I have to admit, I really don’t like this gris-or colour of polish. Perhaps it’s the metallic gold/silver sheen to it. Perhaps it’s just not a colour that suits me and that’s why. Or perhaps I’m just overall not a fan of anything but creamy nail polishes. I could see my Aunt pulling off this shade though, and it would look great on her! Just not me.

Dior State of Gold polishesDiorific Vernis in the shade 991 MYSTÈRE

To ease up the pain in me stating I don’t like a Dior nail polish, I’m posting my favourite colour next, out of the entire 4 from the State of Gold collection. Looks a little purple in the bulb shaped jar, but comes out a beautiful plumy-red almost oxblood colour onto the nails with two coats to fully get that beautiful thick creamy colour.

Dior State of Gold nail polishDiorific Vernis in the shade 951 PASSION

I feel like this passion shade pairs beautifully with the Diorific Mat 750 Fabuleuse lipstick I wrote about last week, right? Such a bright cheery-feeling red. Imagine this paired up with a cozy white fluffy sweater on Christmas Eve? Swoon.

Dior-StateOfGoldDiorific Vernis in the shade 001 STATE OF GOLD

Lastly, a similar glittery polish to last year’s (see my post from last year), but this one has a much finer, smaller glitter. I personally think this one would be beautiful just how I advertised it on my ring finger, as an accent dot on the nail. Or painted fully on that accent nail. But if you’re into glitz and sparkle, go all out and apply it on top of all the nails. It would make a gorgeous statement.

What colour from this collection would you wear?

Diorific Vernis are now available in stores and online.
