3 round CrossFit WOD at home

Since we were wide awake from the amount of sleep we got the other night, and the caffeine in our systems from the McDonalds mocha’s. Last night at midnight the Boyf and I had the best idea of doing a CrossFit wod. I decided to document it and put it on display for you guys.

3round-wodThis was the WOD that we came up with. Instead of going out full tilt like a regular CrossFit workout, we rested while the person completed the first workout (not the first round). I did 15 pushups, the Boyf did 15 pushups, then I moved to the elastic band pulls, then he did. And so on.

pushupsGood gravy. I need to practice my pushup form. This was probably the 8th photo of me in this position. My body is straight til the very end, and that’s when I dip my chest to the ground and keep my butt up high. It was difficult off the toes! I ended up doing most on my knees.

elastic-band-pullsHere are the elastic band pulls that work your chest and tris. Having my photos in black and white makes me look more muscular. In color, it didn’t look that way — I promise. It’s why the photos are in B&W. Looks like I”m a beast. I assure you, I am a weakling.

bicep-curl-and-pressBicep curl and press. By the third round I was pooped.

tricep-pressThen it was the tricep press. I decided to do this two-handed, and do 20 instead of 10.

v-situpsThis is where I was speedier than the Boyf. I taught him how to do v-sit ups last night and he was uncoordinated but managed to pump them out. They’re difficult on the hips, quads and abs!

I think we both had fun doing this at home WOD together. We’re thinking of making it a regular occurrence. It’s great especially if you don’t want to leave your house at midnight to head to a gym ;)

Have you ever done a CrossFit WOD? Wheter it be at home or at a local box?

Last week I had a contest for the Brooke Burke at home workout DVDs and I drew the names this morning. Here are the winners:

At home CrossFit WOD

Today was such a lazy Saturday. We both slept a lot, and by a lot I’m sort of embarrassed to tell you we had a nap on top of the nights sleep we got last night. Because apparently 8 hours on week nights isn’t long enough for me and I needed to catch up on it.

Alfie-in-the-snowAlfie on the balcony earlier today… eating the freshly fallen snow.

McDonalds-Mocha Well, I’m wide awake now since an hour ago we headed to McDonalds to redeem our free McCafe coupons to grab a mocha each. Some tasty too b’ys. I love the way their cups fit my lips. All curvy like.

McDonalds-CouponsPsst, thanks for the extra coupons Stephanie!

Alfie wearing Canada PoochAlfie came with us for the car drive too. Isn’t this photo hilarious? It’s like he’s driving us there. Atta boy!

Alfies Canada Pooch jacketHe looks super cute in it too. I did a review on the Canada Pooch jacket for him last winter, he still loves it! It’s such great quality and doesn’t look worn at all. Bonus.

Canada-Pooch-JacketClose up of the jacket after I lint-rolled Alfie’s fur off it.

muffinsToday wasn’t an entire write-off, because I made a “big breakfast” for us, then lemon poppy seed muffins and a delicious supper with scalloped potatoes! Do you know how long they take to cook in the oven? 1.5 hours! It was torture waiting for them, and smelling them cook.

using tongs for muffinsAm I brilliant or what? I can’t stand touching hot things from the oven or toaster. In fact, my Boss scolded me this week for taking my English muffins out of the toaster with a knife. Yes it was plugged in. I shouldn’t admit that I do that…but omg isn’t the tong the best idea ever for getting muffins out of the pan?

Garnet-Hill-catalogThis post is all over the place, but that’s alright sometimes right? I got this random catalog in the mail over the past week and I have no idea how this US company got my address up here in Canada. But they did. Probably because I give my mailing address out to any survey that asks for it. Just kidding Mom! Either way, I’m digging the stuff they have for sale.

Garnet-Hill-catalog-003I want this sweater. But instead of the mint colored pants, I really want a pair of olive green one’s. I came across a pair at Top Shop last year but unfortunately didn’t want to pay the hefty $80 price tag for them. I’m a cheap girl now. I get all of my pants at H&M. Seriously. They fit me soo well. H&M, please make some olive pants for spring…

Garnet-Hill-catalog-002Like their bedding too. I’m a grey gal. Our bedding is all grey too. I should add some texture to it though, like that throw blanket. Looks nice.

I think the combination of listening to audioboxlive and drinking that caffeinated drink has made me a little hyper this evening. I can’t stop typing.

February-calendarLast week I picked up some Sharpie pens for work (thanks to Leanne’s review of them), and ended up bringing them home so I could make a February to-do calendar for the boyf and I. Jam-packed with attending CrossFit! I like the pens, since they’re fine point and they don’t bleed onto the next piece of paper.

at-home-workoutThe boyf and I ended up doing an at home CrossFit WOD tonight.

pushups-at-homeWhat? You don’t workout in jeans? Pushups, bicep curls, v-snaps. 3 full rounds! The real deal. I’ll do an “at home workout” post tomorrow about it.

Guys. I really do have to start my 50 day push up challenge again, but when I fly to Quebec later this month I don’t want to “forget” to do them, or put off doing them. But at the same time I don’t want to wait til the end of the month to start them. Suggestions? lol…

Sitting-PomeranianAnd we’re out! Good night!

The challenges I’m hitting lately…

I can’t believe it’s Thursday. I thought it was Wednesday and the week is just flying by. I’m feeling stronger than ever at CrossFit and I’m not being a wussy when it comes to the WODs. I’m givn’er and lifting heavier! Guess that month off was successful for my muscle building and now I’m just getting better.

50daypushI’m going to end up starting the push up challenge again shortly. I don’t know what’s stopping me from even starting but I’m planning on it in the foreseeable future. Ha! How’s that for a vague answer. I ended up doing the 50 day push up challenge on my knees last time, and next I want to start doing them off my toes. Elbows in. The “tough” way! I saw a vast improvement on my performance at CrossFit when I did them, so I want to keep that level up.

Lately I’ve been like a starving horse. Feeling very hungry at work, and I figure that I really need to start bringing much more snacks in with me, to work so I’m not going to a vending machine or eating my emergency candy. Yes, I have a secret stash at work. Shh. The Boyf doesn’t know, but I’m sure it doesn’t surprise him. It’s dwindling. The candy stash, not our relationship lol….uh.

boyf and iHere’s a random photo of us in the elevator.  Just because this post is lacking some visuals ;) Totally broke that BlackBerry case awhile ago. On case # 3 now. Oops. Hey, at least I’m not on BlackBerry #3 right?

Think that’s going to be the way retailers shop, in the future? Pretty wild right?  In fact, if you’re in the Toronto area, this store is actually opened as of last week and it’s located at 2529 Younge Street. I google mapped the location and it’s 7km north of the Eaton Centre to put it in perspective. Hop on a subway and you’re there in minutes.

Neat features of the Retail Lab:

  • Tile, Tablet, Touch and NFC Screens:  With 140 digital screens installed throughout the store, it features Samsung displays with ultra-thin borders, touch technology and near-field-communication (NFC) capabilities allowing for personalized content and greater customer interaction with merchandise.
  • Shoe Wall Innovation: adidas has installed its first permanent digital shoe wall in Canada; Nike has installed its first Nike Shoe VJ Experience in the world; and Reebok has installed a customized, ‘build your own Reebook’ kiosk.
  • Medical Motion Dynamic Gait Analysis: Customers walk or run on a gait analysis treadmill, while being monitored by trained Sport Chek associates who can then recommend the perfect shoe.

What has everyone been doing to strive for YOUR better? What challenges are you hitting? Tell me in the comments. I’m sure it’s difficult getting into a routine again after the nice Christmas holiday break. Sure was for me – you guys know I took a month off for no real reason. I just did. I suppose my body secretly needed it, and I listened to it. Now I’m feeling a ton better, especially now that I’m taking vitamins and exercising more.

Oh oh! Don’t forget to submit your Triple F Friday posts to me by tonight’s end! Just shoot me an e-mail to spiffykerms@gmail.com. Just include any of the following:
  • Your name
  • Your URL, if you have a blog
  • Description of you being Fun, Fit or Fashionable
  • A photo, which is optional of course

See ya tomorrow for the last post of the week! :)
