Vegan treats and sleeping at IKEA

So how the heck was your weekend everyone?

I was so glad to finally meet up with my friend Steph (who blogs over at Lunges and Lunch) on Saturday.

I picked her up at her place and we went on a road trip to Burlington! Steph had told me about Kind Food, which is this Vegan and Gluten Free (am I supposed to be capitalizing those words?) restaurant and she had me intrigued. So off we went.

The first things I noticed when walking inside the door were the insane amount of cupcakes available.

Dee-rrrrishiousssss.

I ordered the B.L.A.T (Vegan bacon, lettuce, avocado and tomato) only because I wanted to say BLAT as many times as possible inside the restaurant, and giggle uncontrollably like an immature child. Nobody else found it as funny as I did however. Shame.

My teenage self is astounded at my palette changes throughout the years. Everything is gluten free dude. Even the bread!

Stephanie ordered a roasted red pepper soup with some other fancy stuff in it too. The floaties are sweet potato. I think.

Of course we couldn’t leave without trying the amazing desserts Stephanie was raving about. I ended up grabbing the Mile High Brownie. Apparently the sweet treats weren’t made from any refined sugars. I know nothing about Gluten Free/Vegan eating, so this was pretty neat to me.

Oh dear, documenting my first taste at the dessert.

SUCCESS! I loved it.

It was so light, but so good. It tasted like a real brownie would. I ate half since it was fairly large, and saved the rest until I got home and devoured it immediately. Oops.

Stephanie ate a snowball for dessert. Er, I mean a coconut cupcake.

She asked if she had anything on her mouth. No. Not at all I replied, with a straight face.

Then it was time to leave, and do a bit of shopping at Ikea. But first, a photo op outside Kind Food!

Of course whenever I head into IKEA, I’m like an American inside a Target. I can’t leave without spending like a hundred bucks. Am I right? It’s okay, I knew it was bound to happen. I only had planned on getting a lamp, since mine caught on fire. No biggie. We won’t get into that.

We tested out so many (of the exact same) couches. Hey. They were pretty comfortable at least. As they should be for six hundred smackaroos.

Many…

Many couches..

And even taking naps in the IKEA beds. I always smile in my sleep. Don’t you?

Wow, was I really asleep that long?

Who are these people? Why are they in my bedroom? I mean..the IKEA showroom…

But wait, we must blog about our adventures. There’s always time for blogging, right Steph?

She’s gettin’ on it!

Look at her playing those games. She’s so smart at “Memory”.

It’s never a dull moment when I’m around Stephanie. I need to remind myself to wear waterproof mascara when I’m out in public with her. She always makes me laugh til I cry.

I ended up buying just four things. What  I went in for, a lamp…which of course didn’t come with any bulbs. How could I have forgotten. Silly IKEA.

A rolling pin, straws, and another laundry hamper. Love their $5 laundry bins!

What did you do this weekend?

My ebay purchases, rated…

Remember my ebay finds back in March? Well all of my items have finally arrived and I’m rating my ebay purchases for you all! I’ll be talking about the quality, and whether or not it’s worth to buy the item itself on ebay. I may continue to do posts like this, if it’s beneficial for you all. I’ve made some recent Etsy purchases, and a few more ebay items. Either way, see the rest of my post below.

Seller: ccclothcc
Item: Rabbit Fur Knit Cardigan
Paid: $18.99 + $8.99 shipping. Worth the price? No. But I’ve negotiated on my second item purchased with her, see below.
Location: Hong Kong
Delivery: 11 business days from when I placed the order, to when it arrived. Order placed March 5, arrived March 19
My opinion: I thought it was a little more luxurious looking online than in person. In person is has more of a peach tone to it rather than the grey-white one that it looks like, online. The material itself is quite soft, and the fit is accurate. Just wish the color was a little more flattering. None the less I really do love the piece and am debating buying the red cardigan as well.
Overall rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Seller: ccclothcc
Item: Orange Color Mix Pattern Top
Paid: $10.00 + $2.00 shipping. Worth the price? Yes (as I negotiated the price).
Location: Hong Kong
Delivery: 9 business days from when I placed the order, to when it arrived.
My opinion: It’s not super cute in person. I dislike the vibrancy of the orange, thinking it was more of a nice coral shade online. It’s wearable for summer. The sizing isn’t as accurate as I had thought. It’s off the shoulder on the girl to the left. The fabric is a really soft cotton and the fit is great on me. The arm cuffs would be tight on someone bigger as they’re snug on me.
Overall rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Seller: auysfdesign
Item: White cotton batwing sleeve loose tops
Paid: $11.88 + free shipping. Worth the price? YES NO
Location: China
Delivery: 13 business days from when I placed the order, to when it arrived.
My opinion: The quality of the tee is like Forever 21, and I’m afraid the stitching on the see through part of the arms are going to eventually undo from the rest of the top. Overall if it had better stitching I’d give it 5 stars because it’s such a flattering piece on the body. Though, I may order more because I really do love this top.
Overall rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Seller: greentea212
Item: Celebrity Hollywood Star Women Leopard Pink Soft Scarf
Paid: $13.74 + free shipping. Worth the price? Yes
Location: Hong Kong
Delivery: 27 business days. I don’t know why this one took as long as it did, it was annoying waiting for it as it was my first ebay purchase out of all the ones shown above (and below)
My opinion: Nice basic scarf, a little different looking with the two patterns on it. It’s not the most highest quality, I’d say similar to H&M.
Overall rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ (Didn’t get 5 stars because the price was just “ok” and it took forever to get here)

Seller: upoct-01
Item: Black Cool Big Skull Cotton Womens Long Scarf
Paid: $0.15 + $4.99 shipping. Worth the price? Yes
Location: China
Delivery: 31 BUSINESS DAYS. It said it’d take 18-29 business days but I was getting worried and by day 30 I contacted the ebay seller letting them know I had yet to receive it. It of course, came the next day.
My opinion: It’s a nice scarf. I’m debating saving this for my oldest nephew (P.s. I have 4 nephews lol…also, hope he doesn’t read my blog) for Christmas. Because I think he loves skulls.
Overall rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ (Only because of the slow service)

Boca Raton Architects and my artistic background

My artistic ability has been engrained into me ever since I was a young kid. I guess I shouldn’t really say engrained since I’ve always had a natural knack for it and loved being artistic. I remember saying in grade school when I was under the age of ten that I’d love to be an artist, or a kindergarden teacher. I’d still love to be a teacher of 5 and 6 year olds, I love kids so much. So maybe when I get bored of my day job, being a Graphic Designer— I’ll eventually go back to school. How can anyone get bored of my job though? I draw pictures all day long ;)

My Father is a retired Architect so I’m positive I get it all from him. He’s so particular about certain things, and has these odd quirks that rubbed off on me. Growing up he used to look at a set of stairs and count them out loud as we were going up. Maybe it was something to do with helping me with my poorest subject: math. Or maybe it was because that’s just how he is. He always counted how high building stories were, when we were outside, or counting windows. I see myself doing the same thing now and it kind of bugs me, because your eyes go wonky after certain floors and you have to re-count. lol.

I used to go with him on outings helping him measure things for homes and buildings he was designing. I loved being his sidekick and using the chalk string marker and pulling the blue string and slapping it against the wall, as he made his pencil marks ever so lightly on the walls.

So it’s no strange thing that I love looking at Architecture, and beautiful homes at that. I love looking at homes all over the world, and I came across Boca Raton architects, who are these Architects located in sunny Florida.

Check out that gorgeous view in the city of Boca Raton. Who made that happen? Darn right if you guessed a talented architect. I’d show you some pieces my Dad designed back home in Newfoundland, but I never did take a photo of one of the buildings in downtown St. John’s. So maybe you’ll have to wait to see that one.

I can’t wait for the point in my life where I can build and customize my own home. Creating your own personal design with an Architect to help you out can really help reflect the personality you want to show in your home. Everything is yours. It’s not the general contractor’s idea. It’s so very exciting to make those drawings truly come alive.

Do you take after your parents in any way? People have always told me that I’m a lot like my Father (quiet … at first, artistic, his body shape …long and lean, lol). How about you?
