OOTD: Trying to play it cool, meeting REBECCA MINKOFF!

For those that know me in person already, it isn’t a surprise to know I am a little quirky and often silly. I don’t try to dress cool, or stylish for anyone. I probably still dress the way I still do when I was a teenager to be honest, with an odd layer thrown in to make it look a bit different than so many years ago.

I frequent both older shops, and still shop at places like Forever 21, H&M because hello — they have amazing basics and I’m not about to spend a fortune on an $80 t-shirt. Okay, unless it’s like once a year or so and I feel like splurgin’ for once. There is that odd time. I mean, who can say no to Anthropologie, and Free People? They have some gorgeous pieces.

It’s been a while since I did an ouftit of the day (OOTD) post on spiffykerms. And like Pomeranian Friday’s, I thought I’d bring it back.FPMe

This entire outfit I’m wearing below, is exactly what I had worn to the Polyvore + Rebecca Minkoff event. Ahem, although MINUS the purse.Rebecca Minkoff and I

Because oh my word, I won that Minkoff Micro Moto bag, and even had her sign my new purse for me. I got it all on film too!Rebecca-Minkoff-Moto-purse

I’d love to say that this is my everyday bag. But I don’t carry it unless I’m going somewhere in particular — ie: Not the grocery store. I can’t afford these types of luxuries any more, especially since I’m currently not working. I’m not usually the type of person that saves things for special occasions, but this purse now has a soft spot in my heart! HAH!OOTD-Black

Which is why I’ve also agreed to work with Free People again. I decided this time, when I was picking out something from their website, that I’d get something a little out of my comfort zone, yet still something I would wear on the regular.FPShoes

I’m usually a browns/neutrals girl— but when pulling this outfit together, I realized I needed to wear something black or grey on my feet. I ended up getting the Summit Ankle Boots in black. It was a good choice. Although, being an 8.5 shoe (I went for size 40 Euro = size 9) it does elongate my foot a little bit longer than I would like. Then again, I don’t have the smallest feet in the world either. I’m always a bit disappointed when expensive shoes doesn’t come in half sizes as I am a true 8.5, so these are a bit loose on my foot.

What do you guys think? P.s I’m a big fan of mixing brown’s and black’s together, hence my faux leather brown jacket + black/grey everything else.

And to end it with some fun/awkward poses. My husband in the process of calling out my “Captain Morgan pose” in this stance. Hence my smirk.CptMorganPose

In-Flight Beauty Routine

Hello from St. John’s Newfoundland! I have been here for almost two weeks and soon heading back to warm, sunny California. I thought I’d write about my in-flight beauty routine. Kinda different, right?

It’s bound to happen, a 10+ hour flight to now get home to our family in Newfoundland, I’ve become more prepared and organized when it comes to in-flight routines. I also wanted to show you what I wear during a long haul flight. My main goal is to be comfortable.

Airplane-clothesCan you spot the Canadian clothes? There’s two items… :)

Here are a few top essentials I keep with me to occupy my time, or freshen up if need be.in-flight-beauty

1. Dior Creme de rose: perfect for dry lips 2. Face wipes: Because my skin dries out and gets weird. 3. Empty water bottle: After going through security and to avoid costly bottles of water — fill up at a fountain after security to stay hydrated. 4. iPad: for playing games or writing blog posts if you do so desire, and hey — what if your in-flight movie screen doesn’t work? It happens. It sucks. 5. Sony noise cancelling headphones: to tune out the chick snoring next to you, or to zone out and listen to a movie comfortably without ear buds causing aches after hours of chillin’ out in your ears. 6. Hand sanitizer: Because. Germs. 7. Tissue/toilet paper: Crisis averted when the airplane bathrooms runs out of t.p during a flight and you don’t have to resort to wiping with a paper towel. 8. Hair tie: My hair gets gross easily. Why not. 9. Neck pillow: A god send for those long flights when you’re not sharing a row with your beau and don’t want to do the dreaded neck bob to the person next to you. 10. Food: Some flight provide snacks. I get hangry when I’m hungry, so I want to eat when I want to eat. This time I packed crackers, japanese cookies, and a boat-load of pb/jelly sandwiches.

Outfits of the week

ootwFirst of all: Lol at Thursday’s windswept hair. The air conditioner was blowing in my face and I was too lazy to run upstairs to turn it off to take a few snaps of myself. Get whatcha get I say! Ha.

Still haven’t had to wear socks yet here in California. Not complaining at all, because shortly I’m sure I’ll be huddled in a blanket shivering. When the temp drops in the slightest, I get the chills and my hands are like glacier cubes. Not ice cubes. Glacier. Layers of cold, you know? :)

Which outfit is your favourite? I’m pretty partial to Friday. I love that entire outfit together, I’ve worn it many times. Trying not to wear it daily. Then again, who would know I’d wear it daily, if it weren’t for these outfits of the week? I mean, really. I also love my blue Zara pants for Wednesday. They’re so stretchy and comfortable, and that pop of blue is a little odd, but blends in a little bit too. Ie: Not too crazy. They have more colours again this year. I happened to grab one of the last pairs when they had a major sale this time last year.

I think for Tuesday’s outfit, it would totally be something Megan would wear. I like to call it a Megan-Inspired outfit!
