Fashion Show at Santana Row + a VLOG!

Fashion-Show-HeaderHey folks, welcome to Monday once again. How was your weekend? Good I hope. Let me tell you about mine. Holy cheeseballs, well didn’t I have the most fun weekend ever. Okay, not ever. But I had a really fun one none the less.

Saturday started off with a Fashion Show at my favourite place in San Jose California: Santana Row. I’ve talked about this place many times in the past. This past weekend was their 7th annual Fashion Show at Santana Row, with this one being the first year at their new Misora luxury residences. Right by the pool too. Gorgeous spot that I could never afford to rent, even for a week. Beautiful and classy, as Santana Row likes to do things! Sunday was really exciting too. Except for the fact that we both woke up at 2:50am so we could drive to San Francisco for the day where my husband competed in the Escape From Alcatraz triathlon. Long day! But fun.

I ended up making yet another comeback to the YouTube side of things. After watching countless of vlogs over the last few years I have started to miss it. It was definitely awkward vlogging in public and I tried it again yesterday when I was at my husbands triathlon, but man is it ever hard to get past people giving you strange looks. Regardless, I ended up making one at the Santana Row’s Fashion Show event, check it out:

Could you tell I was eager too attend? I was the first one who showed up. Haha! I even met a couple of really cool people. Lucy, one woman sitting next to me was also Canadian, from Montreal, but moved here over 20 years ago. She comes to the Santana Row fashion show every year to get ideas — she sews many of her own clothes! Michele is a Fashion Blogger over at Fashionable Fun and I loved her entire ensemble she wore to the show. It’s a little hard getting out of my comfort zone and chatting to people I don’t know, but clearly it’s working out in its favour for me. I mean, look at me chattin’ it up, going to these places solo. I would’ve brought my husband with me (he really wanted to attend) but for some reason I thought it was on Sunday and he had to pick up his Alcatraz triathlon race kit in San Francisco around the time the fashion show started. Bummer. Fashion-Show-SR

NBC Bay Area’s Kira Klapper was the emcee for the afternoon, and I mean, check out that entire outfit. I love the skirt. Love the shoes even more I think!NBC-Bay-Area-Host

Felt all fancy with my VIP wristband and all. Speaking of shoes note to self: Never wear these ones again. My right foot hates these shoes, and I felt like that foot was going numb. Not good lol.Santana-Row-VIP

The fashion show was unlike anything I had ever thought it would be, it wasn’t stuffy or serious at all. Quite the opposite, as you’ll see in my Youtube video where some of the women went wild with their screams of joy with everything, including the topless men. Hooboy. Abs on abs on abs.Oakley-swimwear

The models were being playful with one another and the women ended up pushing both men into the pool making this huge splash on everyone in the front row. So fun, and a completely unexpected but fun twist to it all. Oakley-models

Quiet, we’re at Stanford!

ootd-Stanford-headerI don’t always have a photographer at my beck and call, but luckily I had an equally excited friend to have a photoshoot. One day in April we headed out to the incredibly beautiful Stanford University campus before Megan moved back to Canada, and I went on my mini vacation to Newfoundland. It was such a fun day hanging out with her, and trying different poses – and getting really excited about snagging a good shot, squealing then high fiving one another, until we realized how loud we were being. We saw a ton of those fancy lookin’ ivy league male students look out the window at us wondering WTF we were doing. That’s when we raced away, changed into another outfit and started all over again. In another location on the campus ;) You can see Megan’s photos here.

I swear this part of campus was in movies. I knew I recognized these arches even before seeing them in person. But from where?? Does anyone know if it’s ever been in the hollywood movies?

ShoesMegan and I snuck into one of the buildings in campus to use the bathrooms. Hey if they’re not meant to be used, they would’ve locked the main doors am I right? There, we re-applied our lipglosses, brushed our hair and talked how amazing it would be to run into James Franco. He’s from Palo Alto originally. I doubt he’d be hanging around Stanford Campus during the middle of a day at University’s year end. Never know though! Unfortunately we didn’t spot him.

White-on-Grey-gigglesHey, gotta keep in those awkward bloopers am I right? I crack up every time I see my hilarious facial expressions and poses.

Spring Beauty & Fashion Haul

It’s Saturday. It’s time for a haul.

I don’t do much shopping now considering my income is limited. But I knew my friend from Canada was coming down for a visit, months in advance so I saved up some of my dolla bills and pretty much let loose when she arrived. Some of these items are also from my trip home to Newfoundland just a few weeks before her arrival, so here’s a little Spring Beauty haul!

BW-makeupDiorsnow lotion* | Acca Kappa lipbalm with SPF I picked this up while I was in Newfoundland, you can get it downtown St. John’s at my favourite store called Home, on Duckworth | Diorshow universal eyebrow pencil* | Bobbi Brown extra skin care set I purchased this from the ouetlets since the cost of 3 items was the cost of just the 1 eye cream that I’ve been using for years, inside is my fav eye cream, a hydrating serum and moisturizer | Estee Lauder Body lotion which was free with purchase with my Bobbi Brown skincare set.

Noticing a trend here, where everything seems to be mainly black and white. So on trend. Eye roll. But really. I’m loving everything. Well, minus the NARS birthday gift from Sephora because I fail at applying a red lip at the best of times. Some of the stuff of course were sent for review during this time, I’m not made of money. Notice the one’s marked with an *, they were given to me. Reviews coming soon!

Dior-Spring-2015A small preview of the Dior’s summer 2015* collection! Come back Tuesday for more.

Uniqlo-pantsThese pants have been causing a bit of controversy in our small household. My husband hates them. I personally love them. He calls them my wallpaper pants, and says that only women would like these pants. I’m going to keep wearing them! Next up is the Diorsnow makeup remover*. Not sure how I feel about this. I’ll chat more about it, because this is a haul — not a review.

Makeup-HaulI popped into Sephora last week to pick up my birthday gift. The NARS lip duo lipsticks. I am terrible with applying deep lip colours! With 100 of my Sephora points I redeemed them for the sweetest little Bobbi Brown lip balm. Oh, and because I felt guilty going into Sephora simply picking up my free birthday gift and leaving, I bought the Bumble and Bumble pret-a-powder hair texturizer/dry shampoo in one. I’ve heard great things about it, have you tried it? Two self tanners. Vita Liberita* & Dior Bronze*, I’m excited to try these out.

F21-hoodyNotice the Forever 21 Hoody? Do I really need a hoody when it’s warming up here in California? No. But I would have totally regretted not buying it. So my colours. Plus, stripes. It’s still available online for twenty bucks.

PradaSaving the best for last. A few of my must-have’s in my makeup bag at all times. Bobbi Brown extra hand cream (purchased at the outlets, because I’m not paying $30 for a hand cream), and a Cle de Peau concealer, which is on the complete opposite end of the spectrum at an exorbitant price — but this is a re-purchase for me. It’s that good. The prada bag has a bit of a story to it.

Before ya all get your knickers in a twist, I bought the Prada “makeup bag” as I like to call it, from the outlets. It was 50% off the original price, and it’s a product they have been making for as long as I can remember. I noticed my friend/hair stylist back in the early 2000’s had one in his bathroom – and ever since then, for ten years straight I had it in the back of my mind that I was going to buy one, one day. And why not — especially when it’s at the outlets? It’s finally in my haaaandsss.

Is this something you’d like to see more of? Let me know in the comments!
