Speedy treadmill workout

Today was raining and I was bored, so I decided to hit up our gym in the complex here. My husband and dog were both sleeping, so I figured why not?

Workout clothes, MPG, Lululemon, Mizuno, Ironman CanadaI put on my workout clothes and then did a speedy 20 minute run on the treadmill with 8 minutes of walking. It was pretty sweet.

speedy-20-minute-treadmillI just sort of made it up as I went. I tried to mimic my first ten minutes but I knew I probably couldn’t keep up the 7.5 speed for 3 more minutes.

FFCheckinInstead I wanted to do a little speed/slowdown/speed up again type of run.I know that the weather is nice and all, here in California. But I actually prefer running on a treadmill and watching TV. I’m probably the minority here, but does anyone agree with me? I feel like if I’m running outside I can’t just go pee whenever I want, and I can know exactly how to pace myself on a treadmill, which I can’t do outside. I don’t know why.

Mizuno-Wave-RiderI’ve been using my Mizuno Wave Riders and they haven’t been giving me any issues at all. No rubbing on my feet whatsoever.

MizunosPretty comfy if you ask me.

Shortly we’re going to check out Trader Joes, hopefully they have some dried unsweetened mango in stock.

What are you up to today?

When’s the last time you ran on a treadmill?

Stay tuned for tomorrow’s post as I’m talking about some delicious tea!

Lake Tahoe Weekend

I’ve had an annoying cough since the end of October. It settled down around Christmas and got better in January. Antibiotics or an inhaler wouldn’t work as it was just a viral infection, so like a regular common cough, thankfully without the sinus issues. However I caught the annoying cough again from my husband and I’ve been feeling pretty tired lately. So, okay so I don’t really have anything to add to the blog this morning, because our weekend was pretty ordinary and laid low for the most part.

Oh. Except for the fact that we went to Lake Tahoe yesterday. I know hey? Aren’t we done with snow for a while? I told The Guy I didn’t want to see snow until next year but he suggested we go because he wanted to cross-country ski one last time this year.

We had planned on leaving Saturday, even though Jessica warned us that the traffic would be heavy. But errands on Saturday took much longer than expected, and we didn’t want to leave after dark. So we left bright eyed and bushy tailed yesterday morning at the crack of dawn. A four hour drive no less. Hey, nothing compared to what we did during the Canada to California move.

He spent a few hours skiing at Royal Gorge in Sugar Bowl. They didn’t have a good season with snow apparently, and this is what he was left to ski on. Luckily for me there was a cross country ski race going on, so I got to watch part of that.

Lake Tahoe OlympicsDrove past the signs from the 1960 Winter Olympics. I jokingly asked The Guy if that was still the Olympic Flame ;)

Vikingscholm Emerald BayAfterwards, we took a drive along Emerald Bay and stopped to look at the Vikingscholm and Mrs. Knight’s Tea House.

Vikingscholm_Crazy right?

Scott the photographerThe Guy took a bunch of photos — including one of me sliding down on my butt on part of the rocky steep area. Even though I’m a climber, I’m still afraid of heights and falling! Fear is sometimes a good thing lol.

Vikingscholm Three Monks stopped by just as we were leaving. MonksI’ve never seen Monk’s before, so I took a few photos of them when they arrived to go up along that rocky cliff a bit.

Mountains near Lake TahoeEven though the mountains around Lake Tahoe are similar in height to the rockies in Banff, they just didn’t seem as high or as impressive. Mostly due to the fact the roads were also built up on the mountains.

I’m going to go rest my cold for a bit, and tackle the living room. Our furniture and surroundings still aren’t set up the way we want them to.

Have you ever been to Tahoe?

Or how about Banff?

His fanciest running shoes

Every second night or so, The Guy and I have been hitting up the gym in the building next to our town house. Unfortunately for me we usually go at 10pm. I’m droopy eyed and slurring my wods at that hour, let alone get ready to run a 5k on a treadmill. But I do it, and then I’m all pumped up full of energy for hours on end. I can’t win ;) I mean, I could go to the gym during the day time when he’s at work. But what fun is that?

The both of us were sent a pair of Mizuno’s each to try out. I am months and months behind on blogging about this, due to the move and all. I’ve asked The Guy, the 5x Ironman Triathlete to write a guest post on what he thinks of the new Prophecy’s, so stay tuned for that in the near future. I received my wave rider’s in October and was wore them to CrossFit a bunch of times when I wasn’t lifting weights (too cushiony for that). The Guy received them in January which was a great time to receive them, since the fall time is his “off season” and he takes a month or so break from all of the races he’s been doing. December/January is usually the time when he starts putting in big miles again but moving to California put things on the back burner for a bit.

Now we can be twinsies. Except he’s been rotating wearing the Mizuno Prophecy’s, a pair of Saucony something’s (they’re all blue) and some New Balance’s. I swear that guy has way more shoes than I will ever have. Where as I’ve been wearing these or my 3 year old nike’s at the gym. Mizuno Wave Rider, Mizuno Prophecy
