What I Ate Wednesday #8

I don’t do a weekly ‘What I Ate Wednesday’ post, because for the most part my meals are usually repeats (such as the egg bagel that has made it’s time here on the blog more than once). Not only that, I’d need to remember to photography everything I ate in the run of a day, and since I prefer to make the meals look good for the blog, that takes time away from eating the food. Time when I’m hangry. Enjoy the compilation of what I ate yesterday (holy carbs) with the beautiful natural sunlight coming in all day. Hah!

What I Ate Wednesday

bagel-and-tea10:15am // Old faithful, a toasted everything bagel with an omelet (with tomatoes, green pepper, mushroom and cheese), with a tea on the side.

chicken-wrap-lunch3:45pm // An open chicken wrap later folded up (with ranch dressing, goat cheese, grape tomatoes, green pepper, mushroom, spinach and chipotle mayo dabbed on top), and a glass of lemon water on the side.

cookie-and-milk4:10pm // I made chocolate chip cookies for the first time in years. Crunchy on the outside, gooie on the inside. Absolute perfection. Recipe from For Me For You (note: I used only regular all purpose flour nor did I refrigerate the batter for 36+ hours. Ain’t nobody got time for that. Pop it in the freezer for 1 hour and you have yourself some sweet tastin’ dough). Best cookies. Ever.

Lemon-pepper-chik-stirfry-w7:50pm // I made my favourite lemon pepper chicken stir fry with a bit of vino on the side.

Hockey Night in America + Giveaway

Game-Day-recipesSaturday afternoon, my husband invited a couple of his bud’s over to watch the Ottawa Senators vs. Florida Panthers hockey game. You know the Canadians can’t give up their Saturday night game watching. Did you know we named Alfie after one of the (now retired) Sens? Daniel Alfredsson = Alfie ;)

While I am a fan only in the hockey arena rather than watching it on TV, I decided to make the boys some finger food and snacks before they ordered in a couple of pizzas. No photos of the guys because I didn’t want to be a weird wife and say, “Hey can I document this for my blog?” Ha!

The spread.

Plate-of-snacksWith the help of Chex I make some game day recipes that are fairly easy to put together.

Parmesan + Garlic Potato Wedges
â…“ cup melted butter, ¼ cup parmesan, 2 tbsp. Italian seasoning, 2 cloves of minced garlic, 3 russet potatoes wedged into strips + salt and pepper. Pop in a ziplock bag and giv’er a shake to distribute toppings. Preheat oven to 450ºF and bake for 35 minutes or until tender. Flip potatoes half way.

Mini Taco Bowls
Cut large tortillas into quarters and place in muffin tins. Brown your ground beef and season with spicy taco seasoning. Cut up your toppings, and grate cheese (I used colby + montery jack). Add a spoonful of beef into the taco bowls, top with ingredients and bake in oven the last 15 minutes with the potatoes (15 minutes at 450ºF)

Chex Lemon Buddies
(recipe on the Chex website)

You guys will be entering to win a “game day” mailer that Chexâ„¢ Party Mix has put together! Winner will receive beer glasses, coasters, Cali-Bowls (fantastic for dipping because there’s a ‘lip’ on the inside) , and a few other surprises :)

Open to US residents only.

What I Ate Wednesday #7

Thank you so much for your awesome comments on yesterdays Beauty Talk Tuesday post. The photos took a long time to take (making sure they were all in focus because: tripod), edit and put together in photoshop. Since many of you had commented saying you enjoyed the layout of the post, I will continue to style the photos that way when talking beauty related products, so thanks again!

Today we’re jumping back into another What I Ate Wednesday. Mmm, food. My favourite.

What I Ate Wednesday
google-tea-egg-bagel8:50a //Pretty proud of my $7 Google purchase. A black and white mug perfect sized for my cuppa tea in the a.m. Along side, toasted everything bagel with bell pepper, mushrooms, cheese and tomatoes. Spread was mayo + chipotle mayo. All the fat. All the tasties.

lunch-snack-plate12:40p // Because when you want a lot of things but are too lazy to cook all the things, you make a delicious snack plate for lunch. Here we have a honey crisp apple, grapes, raspberries, strawberries (that were gross and crunchy so I decided to freeze them for smoothies), homemade cheese crackers, plantains, coconut flakes, pea things, homemade raw trail mix, hummus and crackers.

3pm-snack4:05p // Coffee date with my Canadian friend!

salmon-supper8:25p // I overcooked the salmon. Still good though. Seasoned with Mrs. Dash original, and a sliver of lemon. On the side, a baked russet potato (smothered with butter and garlic), carrots, cauliflower and a silly little spinach salad. So healthy.
