We all have our favorite products

What’s this? Blogging 4 times in two days? Madness! So like the topic says, we all have our favorite products. But of course, they sometimes get discontinued. Since we’re on the topic of creams and lotions and my eczema is dying for some slathering of cream, I decided to question you all.

Believe it or not, if I love some kind of product I use it sparingly in case the certain thing I use… gets discontinued. My mom gave me a huge pump jar of this Johnson & Johnson lotion (that smells so divine). I couldn’t bare to use it each day. However the past 4 or 5 months, every few days I’ve been using it on my legs after I get out of the shower. I can smell it now, I can’t wait to have another shower after I get back from my soccer game tonight. ANYWAY, I haven’t searched that hard for a new bottle, but I think I’ll have to start soon, because it’s pretty much almost all used up. Anyone know where this exact pink lotion bottle is? Maybe I’ll check walmart…or I can resort to the expensive MAC products, but I don’t want to slather that $30 4oz pump jar all over my body.

Dry skin?

Ugh. I’m so very well taken care of at work! It’s amazing really. I had a job before this one that I thought was too good to be true, and it was in fact. I was literally given an ultimatum, so I had to quit after eight months of being there. It was terrible and it brought me down so bad.

Anyway. The past few weeks it’s been getting dryer and colder outside, which in turn makes my skin suck all the moisture out, and out comes my yearly annoyance of eczema located in different random spots each year. I have no idea where I put my eczema cream that my dermatologist prescribed to me, but I’ve been itching all day at work. It hurts! So semi–off topic with eczema, my boss came back from lunch this afternoon and bought me this Avène Cold Cream lip balm. After applying continuous hourly coats of some no name brand I stole from Scott’s triathlon swag bags I believe that this Avène stuff is really one of the better products I’ve tried. I applied it once this morning and that was that! No more reapplying—I just rubbed my lips together and they don’t feel flaky or dry anymore. The lip balm is actually pretty expensive (and French), but I think I’ll be keeping this one on hand, constantly.

My boss bought a couple of things for herself, including this really soothing thermal spring mist spray stuff, that’s almost like water. I sprayed it on my face, but nothing happened because my face wasn’t sore or anything. But I sprayed it on my arm, where my eczema was and it stopped being sore, and red! Like, it’s totally gone! Plus all that avène stuff is all hypoallergenic for sensitive skin like mine. Maybe it’s not the best answer, and maybe I should find my prescribed stuff… but I’m quite impressed. If you want more info about the product line, you can view their American website here. Annnnd, if you’re Canadian, you can get all this awesome stuff at the beauty counter in Shopper’s Drug Mart.

I am all about it.

Economic downturn

Here are the three cars that I’ve been looking at. They’re little, they’re good on gas and they’re reliable says the Consumer’s Report magazine. I haven’t fully looked into the actual specs of these three cars yet. I’ve only driven one of them (the mazda 3 on a manual transmition).

Gas prices went down from $1.19 a litre a few months ago, to $0.72 that I saw a few days ago. It’s absolutely unbelievable! I said I’d start saving for a five grand down payment starting January 2009 for a second hand car that I’d have July first, but seeing the prices going down … I may have to start looking now. I mean, I’ll be budgeting $400 biweekly for a car, and spending $58/mth on a bus pass. I guess the frugal mind of mine thought it might be neat to have a lump sum of money to hand over to one of the car dealerships, so I wouldn’t need to take a larger loan out, at work. Thankfully I work in the Financial Industry and one of the Head ‘Loan Officers’ will come with me to scope out these three vehicles… or any other car I may have my eye on in the next few months.

I don’t know how people do it. I don’t know how people can live without a car. It makes me so angry trotting around in the frigid cold during the miserable winters. I’ve turned into a little old lady — scared of walking down hill because I may fall (and the hills aren’t even that big!). I’ve been shuffling along in my big winter boots that have traction, yet I seem to always slip on a daily basis. I should pick up a pair of those things that go over your boots that pick into the ice when you’re walking. I’m sure that will help me catch the bus flying by me, while I’m running for it in the A.M. I’ve only gone since 2006 without a car, and my boyfriend used to take the bus to high school and university. I guess I’m spoiled, and used to borrowing my parents car. It’s been about a year since I last drove a vehicle. I can’t wait to go home for Christmas and use my parents car again. Independence!

Now if I was getting 20g’s more a year, I’d think about getting the Acura TSX, leather interior, heated seats, sun roof. I’d go allllll out. Now all I’ll have to do is keep my eye out for some cheap auto insurance. Shouldn’t be too much of a big deal. I’ve been driving ten years now and no reported accidents. Just sometimes flyin’ into a ditch :(

I think boyfriend is feeling the need to buy a new car as well. He mentioned to me the other day that he was looking at BMW 1 series, and Lexus’. C’MON! Don’t tell me that. I’m here looking at low–end cars. I wanna fancy one toooooo….
