My watch collection

my-watch-collectionI admit, I do have a bit of a problem when it comes to buying watches. It’s all justified though, especially since I wear the heck out of all of them in just the run of a week. I like to call it more of a collection than a  problem though.

I’ve been trying to come up with ways to store my watches other than on my dresser all sprawled out. Recently, I have been browsing eBay for watch holders like the one below.

watch-holders

1 | 2

I’ve been debating buying one on the left. But they’re made of velvety material and I feel like having them on display not only takes up a ton of space on top of the dresser but being that it’s velvet, it’s a huge dust collector.

However after searching more into it you can also buy acrylic holders. I don’t love the look of them, which is why I haven’t purchased it yet. What do you guys think? I also hope that one would be enough due to the large amount of watches I have.

My grand collection of Women’s watches I’ve accumulated throughout the years.  my-watchesTop row: Skagen Ceramic Watch which was kindly sent to me for review from The Watch Co., and the gold clunker is my Michael Kors look-a-like that I bought on eBay last summer.
Bottom row: All of my favorite Fossil Stella watches! The brown stainless steel one was sent to me last summer. The other two are made of resin material and I bought those in 2009.

You’ll notice one of my watches are missing. It’s the Fossil Heather watch I received from my friends at Fossil late summer. I ended up giving that one to my Mom when I flew home over Thanksgiving. She loves it and it totally suits her!

I have three other watches I wear too. Talk about a collection hey?

my-older-watchesL-R: Timex sports watch, Nixon leather strap watch, and a coconut watch I got for Christmas this year.

I only wear the timex one if I’m heading out for a run. My Nixon watch brings back so many memories. It’s the first watch I remember purchasing, I got it at a skate shop in 2003 back home in Newfoundland and I wore the heck out of it. The leather strap is almost worn away on the backside.

I plan on doing a full review on the Skagen watch that I received, as well as another blog post on how to style watches. Because certain watches definitely won’t work with certain outfits.

Do you collect anything?

Do you wear a watch on a regular basis?

eBay purchases: rated

This is the third time I’ve done an online/ebay purchases rated blog post. See my other two here, and here. Photos shown on the far left are the images on eBay, and the other ones to the right are when I received the product, so you can tell what it looks like!

elephant-scarfSeller: smilelife168 on eBay
Item: Elephant print scarf
Paid: $8.68 + free shipping. Worth the price? Yes
Location: China
Delivery: 19 business days
My opinion: It’s a cute scarf, I love wearing it and it was super cheap!
Overall rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

slimsonic-toothbrushSeller: rbargains on eBay
Item: Violight Slim Sonic Toothbrush
Paid: $15.95 + $5.00 shipping. Worth the price? No
Location: United States
Delivery: 8 business days
My opinion: What can I say? It’s a toothbrush. It works well, and it’s the perfect size for traveling. I’m not sure that I’d pay the $20 for if I had my time back though, the brush head is small.

Seller: michael-dan on eBay
Item: Rose Gold Plated titanium steel Bracelet
Paid: $19.00 + free shipping. Worth the price? Yes
Location: China
Delivery: 12 business days
My opinion: This is such a gorgeous piece, and actually a knock-off of a higher brand name. I’m not sure who? Michael Kors I know makes one too. The bracelet has an engraving that says “Cartier” on it, but of course it’s not real. As soon as I opened the box it came in, it looked like a child sized bracelet and I thought it wouldn’t fit my 5-inch-something wrists (I have petite wrists). Thankfully it did and it’s amazing quality. It feels like it’s got some weight to it, and the edges don’t rub on my wrist at all. If I knew anyone who would love this bracelet as much as I do, I’d buy it for them for next Christmas! I’ve been wearing this non-stop and getting tons of compliments on it, each time I wear it.

Seller: mckalaur on eBay
Item: 5 PRADA Shielding Lip Balm SPF 15
Paid: $12.99 + $3.00 shipping. Worth the price? No

Location: United States
Delivery: 5 business days – incredibly fast shipping
My opinion: These lip balms are so miniature, but for a person who doesn’t wear much lip products on a daily basis, this is a nice luxurious touch to add into my handbag. The lipbalm itself is very buttery on your lips, and it has a slight tint to it. Very nice!

Seller: ticticcompany on eBay
Item: Ladies jumbo metallic designer rose gold watch
Paid: $17.49 + $4.00 shipping. Worth the price?
Location: United States
Delivery: 9 business days.
My opinion: As soon as I took the watch out of its wrapping, I first noticed the size of the face. That thing was huge! The sound that the watch made when it was off my wrist was also notable, as it sounded quite cheap. But that’s what I get for a $20 watch. The face itself is quite nice and doesn’t look inexpensive. I had to get  a few links removed from the watch as it was ginormous as every watch is, before you get it sized. But I’ve been wearing it nearly ever day since I got it. I fooled my co-worker and she actually thought it was one of my many Fossil watches. Until I told her I got it on Ebay! I gave it 3/5 stars because of the quality. I feel like it’s not going to last. But it still looks nice.

Item: New Tough Genuine Leather Brown Removable Mens Womens Wallet purse a68160 NWT
Paid: $28.96 + $5.99 shipping. Worth the price? Yes
Location: China
Delivery: 17 business days
My opinion: Smells like real leather, parents said it was real lol! It’s so very soft to the touch, too. I bought this during the summer but decided to wait until now because it was a Christmas present. Yes, I shop that early on in the year. My Mom received this wallet part of her Christmas present so I couldn’t post it until now.

Paid: $3.85 + free shipping. Worth the price? Yes

My opinion: For $4, you get a Longchamp knock-off nylon bag! It’s completely only worth the $4 though, as it’s dollar-store quality.

Top 5 benefits of being a nerd…

… for Halloween.

I dressed up as a nerd for my Halloween costume at work yesterday. As soon as I walked into the office, people stopped and stared. Bellies were grabbed in fits of laughter and eyes welled up as they bent over laughing at me. It was a natural costume, and perfect for me. I wore it proud, and I wore it well.

I decided to keep the nerdy theme going again this year. I’m pretty natural at it, since last year I was Mary Katherine Gallagher. The hilariously awkward character from Saturday Night Live.

I’m always up and out the door before my boyfriend wakes up, so I don’t think he knew I was dressing up for work. I e-mailed a photo to him and asked if he liked my costume. He said (and I quote) “hahaha, acting like a supernerd comes so naturally to you :P” Everyone at work said the same thing, especially when I pranced around with my asthma inhaler, socks pulled up high, and my pocket protector. All that was missing was my retainer in my mouth, but I forgot it last minute. I think that would’ve definitely added to the outfit.

When I got home I asked the Boyf to take some photos of me, for the blog here so I could show you my full costume.

L & I!

Few of my co-workers :)

I was never one to dress up for Halloween since I passed the trick–or–treating stage, but the last two years I’ve had some grand ol’ fun with it. Hope you did too! We didn’t get to pass out any candy, since kids don’t come knocking on apartment doors!

One last thing before I send you all off for the morning ;)Aren’t my nephews THE most adorable kids? K was dressed up like a “Rig Man” just like his Dad and R was a cowboy who kept dancing with those boots on! Cuties.

Top 5 benefits of me being a nerd for Halloween:

  1. I can wear all the clothes I already own, no blowin’ the budget here for my costume!
  2. I’m already quirky and unique, so there’s no “getting into character” for me.
  3. Tucked in clothes feels so awesome, and warm! I didn’t have cold drafts up my back/legs. Pulling up my socks over my pants, and tucking my shirt into my pants. Brings back childhood (nerdy) memories.
  4. Making people laugh (at me). Hey, it makes me feel good when I can get a laugh out of someone. I don’t take myself too seriously :)
  5. The joy of getting to show the world the real me. Priceless.
