Christmas Party

My work’s Christmas Party was on Saturday night and unfortunately Scott was in Ottawa this entire weekend so he couldn’t go with me.

I ended up picking up two of my co-workers (who both read my blog. Hello!!) and had an awesome time regardless of if my Boyfriend came with me or not.

I was initially going to wear an all black outfit and have my H&M skirt be the standing-out piece. But for some reason I ended up going with the brick red tank from Cassis that I picked up in October. It was laying in the clean laundry pile and it was next to my skirt, so I paired it together and it ended up going really well.

This was my final look that I ended up wearing to the Christmas Party. I think it worked out very well! It was way too cold to wear bare legs, plus I thought the tights made it more festive looking.

I filmed a YouTube video last night while I was was getting ready, and this is the photo that I took immediately after.

Closeup of my eyeshadow! :)

It’s incredibly long at 13 minutes, even though I made a time-lapse video and included some royalty free music. But if you care to watch, it’s there for your viewing!

I had so much fun. There was karaoke. Julie and I had to get the party started by singing the first song with our other co-worker. I also tore up the dance floor doing the Newfie Jig with a few newf’s who attended the party as well. The Night That Patty Murphy Died, Home For A Rest and Heave Away were just a few songs that I jigged to. Man, best songs ever. Remind me so much of home.

Now, for some photos of the night. Fun right!? Don’t worry! I asked everyone for their permission to be on my blog :)

You may remember Julie as she’s featured here on my website quite often.

Amy and I!

Laura and I. Kinda blurry. Not everyone is the best photographer around ;)

So that’s it! Hope you enjoyed that YouTube video I put together. It wasn’t all that hard actually. So I may end up doing a how-to video on how to make a time lapse like that, in case anyone is interested.

See you all soon!

OOTWW

OOTWW! I took the bus to work all this week since Scott took my car this entire week to do training at work.

Boy, I forgot how long it takes to commute. Taking two busses to get to work. Pain in my … you know what. At least it was only for the week. My car is back in my hands tonight! ha

Have a great weekend everyone. I’ll probably be making some YouTube videos tonight and a blog post tomorrow about my Christmas Party makeup/outfit/hair. If I don’t mess it up. I also went to a health food store for the first time in my entire life. I picked up some amazing things which aren’t exactly healthy since I got chocolate. But whatevs. I’m excited to show you. So come back this weekend ya hear? :)

How I plan my outfits…

Each Sunday for almost two yeas I’ve been planning my outfit of the work week (OOTWW) clothes, taking a photo each morning and publishing them on the blog on Fridays.

How do I pick out my clothes? Some ask me. Here is what I do. There’s two steps to this. 1-6, and then paragraph below that one. Inspiration from others.

1. Start off with your base. That could either be shoes, pants, or your top. I usually start with my pants. I don’t like to wear out my pants so I try to only wear them once.

2. If you started off like me and picked out your pants, pick out a top to go with it. It could be a blouse, a knitted sweater, or could be a tank or a tee.

3. Layer it. Either add cardigans like you see I’ve done above, or if you’re not feeling the cardi, accessorize with a scarf.

4. Time for the fun part — accessorizing! Pick out jewelry, bracelets, belts, earrings and scarves. This is the time I also pick out shoes to wear with my outfits. Have fun with it.

I usually accessorize with necklaces since they don’t get in the way of me working. I get annoyed with bracelets, and rings too — when I wash my hands. I keep my necklaces in the bathroom!

My shoe rack :) I have a question for the ladies. What do you put in the inside of your boots to keep them upright?

5. Finish your outfit with undies and a bra, socks too if need be, and you’re done!

I put all the outfits on hangers, and put them aside. Reason you can’t see the pants is that they’re underneath the tops!

Next tip is looking through magazines, blogs and photos for inspiration.

I found this image on someone’s blog (I forget who, sorry!). A ton of people have put their Polyvore outfits on their blogs. Pinterest is a good spot to find outfit ideas as well.

As you can see, I pretty much tried to copy the entire outfit.

That my friends, is how I plan my outfits!
