California Summer: OOTD

On Thursday my buddy Lauren and I met up for coffee at one of my favourite and coolest looking coffee shop I’ve ever found, Blue Bottle atÂ Hana Haus in the city of Palo Alto. I took my buddy Jenna here too when she was visiting back in May. We caught up on one another’s lives since we hadn’t seen each other in over a month. Then we decided to venture out and explore Palo Alto a bit, and while we were at it, scope out some really cool spots for snapping outfit of the days together. Of course I filmed a vlog of our entire day, having expensive lunches, following it up with ice cream sandwiches and shopping at Stanford!

And onto the photos. A California summer OOTD :)

Apparently this is what I look like when I vlog, and get caught on camera. I was laughing here at Lauren snapping photos of me vlogging. It was a bit awkward, I’m still not used to whippin’ out the ol’ vlogging camera in public at any given time.

Fake it til you make it, yo.

Isn’t HanaHaus the coolest looking coffee spot? I swear I could easily spend an entire afternoon here just people watching.

Oh, and fake-working on “my” laptop (Lauren’s chromebook). Â Ha!!

If you hang out with me in person, you know I’m a little foolish. I didn’t realize Lauren was snapping away as I was getting overheated tryin’ to get some air circulatin’ under the ol’ tee shirt.

After scouting out locations we found this really pretty european-vibe courtyard and snapped some photos there too. While the staff working there gave us smirks while we were posing. It was a little awkward!

Hence the awkward nancy-running-away in the middle picture.

Then onto Stanford Shopping Centre. Where IÂ picked up a little splurge item from the Chanel makeup counter. You’ll have to watch my YouTube video on Wednesday to see what I got.

Outfit details:Â Forever 21 tee, Zara Jeans, Target shoes and Rayban sunglasses. Pretty simple and to the point! :)

Quiet, we’re at Stanford!

I don’t always have a photographer at my beck and call, but luckily I had an equally excited friend to have a photoshoot. One day in April we headed out to the incredibly beautiful Stanford University campus before Megan moved back to Canada, and I went on my mini vacation to Newfoundland. It was such a fun day hanging out with her, and trying different poses – and getting really excited about snagging a good shot, squealing then high fiving one another, until we realized how loud we were being. We saw a ton of those fancy lookin’ ivy league male students look out the window at us wondering WTF we were doing. That’s when we raced away, changed into another outfit and started all over again. I swear this part of campus was in movies. I knew I recognized these arches even before seeing them in person. But from where?? Does anyone know if it’s ever been in the hollywood movies?

Megan and I snuck into one of the buildings in campus to use the bathrooms. Hey if they’re not meant to be used, they would’ve locked the main doors am I right? There, we re-applied our lipglosses, brushed our hair and talked how amazing it would be to run into James Franco. He’s from Palo Alto originally. I doubt he’d be hanging around Stanford Campus during the middle of a day at University’s year end. Never know though! Unfortunately we didn’t spot him.Â

This area above seemed like a communal area. Surprised I snagged this shot without anyone in it. It’s the Memorial Court part of Stanford Campus. So many archways, so many pretty photo op’s.

Hey, gotta keep in those awkward bloopers am I right? I crack up every time I see my hilarious facial expressions and poses.

Can’t do a post talking about one of my favourite people and not include her pretty face! This is Megan in case you guys haven’t visited her awesome blog yet. Go go!

California has not changed me

As you read this, I’m either on an airplane or stuck in Chicago airport for 7 hours while I wait for another leg of my flight back to California.

I thought it was only appropriate to show an outfit of the day where I hung out with my new blogger bud Megan. She was also living in California but moved back to Toronto just a few short days ago. So sad I won’t be seeing her pretty face on the regular anymore. But I remember this day back in late April, one of our last few visits with each other.

You’ll notice an iced coffee in my hands for some of the photos – which I might add was the blandest wateriest iced coffee I’ve spent my money on. I’ll be talking about that spot on the blog at another point and time.Â Anyhoodle. Back to the blog post, it’s supposed to be all fashiony and such. I think this was somewhere in the Mission district of San Francisco. Either way, it was hot, it was fun, and I was awkward. You’ll see after the mirror selfies in this bathroom in San Francisco which has terrific selfie lighting. Just sayin.

Do yo like the shirt I’m wearing? I call it my zoo-keeper shirt. I kinda feel like one, wearing it. All rustic and worn-in looking, and it hasÂ that general feel to it with the green. AM I RIGHT?

Don’t worry, California hasn’t changed me. I’m still doing the awkward dances in the street trying to shake my wiggles out and decide on how to post for the next picture. As soon as I saw this picture, IÂ laughed so much I had to ask Megan if my mascara was running. I also may have let out a snort-laugh while I was at it. You know I’m laughing hard then. I immediately sent the picture to my husband and he wrote back “are you sitting on an invisible bench?” Cracked me right up.

Then I started laughing again. Not knowing what to do with my body. I can be so awkward. :) But it’s all in good fun. We had a fantastic time laughing and carrying on trying to take some of the photos.
