Outfit of the day: California Winter

Header-Cali-Winter-LookEver since getting back to California after spending over two weeks in Canada, I have never appreciated California winter’s more. A light sweat shirt, that’s all I need right now! Not that I’m an expert at being here during the winter time, but we did arrive 11 months ago. If only I could get on this easy in Canada with such little layers. To be honest I didn’t even need the hat, it was warm outside. My logic behind it was that I bought it on eBay for < $4 and I couldn’t not wear it this season. For my Canadian friends, and everywhere else in the world who goes by Celcius temp’s, it was 15°C (59°F I had to google the conversion. I’ll never get used to fahrenheit).

Seems to be the hot topic between friends and I, in a joking way.

My dog-walkin’ neighbour friend and I always talk about how cold/warm it is outside and I’m all “yeah it feels like it’s at least 18 degrees“. She gives me a confused look because we both don’t know how to convert it into fahrenheit so I ball park it with… it’s in the sixites? Close enough. Now we go by “it’s t-shirt weather!” or “man where are my mittens? My fingers are cold.”

So here we go, an outfit I wore on Saturday during this balmy California ‘winter’. I’m way overdressed. California-Winter-look

My outfit:

eBay hat, eBay scarf, Forever 21 tee
Uniqlo down jacket, Alo Sport leggings, eBay rain boots

… and because outtakes are always fun. The Guy takes forever to take a picture. Waiting for me to make a face at him, then snap… picture taken. This is the outcome:

Angry-face

I have a pretty nice schedule going on this week with a few different friend-dates that I’m excited about. I’ll be driving to San Francisco tomorrow to meet Megan, lunch with Lauren, and dinner with my Canadian friend! What’s on your agenda for the week?

What I’m Wearing: Weekend edition

Weekend-OOTD

Weekend-OOTD2These photos were taken last weekend the day after I had a few friends over for coffee and croissants. It was a much needed relaxing day, sipping my coffee from the new Nescafe machine we received for review. I love those days, where nothing is on the agenda and The Guy and I can hang out and do whatever you please. Even though I don’t have a full time day job, and can wear whatever I like when I like — I still like to kick back and relax on a weekend and put on my comfy clothes.

Here I am wearing my incredibly long lounge tee that I bought last year at Anthropologie. In hind sight, I really should have picked up another in a different colour despite the forty dollar price tag since I wear it so much. I thought I’d tell you guys about the new jeans I scored at Forever 21 for twenty four bucks a few weeks ago (I can’t find the exact pair but these are similar, although a few bucks more). This was the first time I had bought a pair of jeans that were pre-destroyed. Something I always thought was ridiculous, since you’re only going to get little wear our of them as they’re already broken in. Whatever, I love them man. They’re comfortable but require a belt. The size that was smaller down was too tight on my thighs, weird. Does that mean I’m enlarging? Lol. Hope not.

I really miss doing my weekly outfits of the work week! I should add this in as a weekly occurrence, whether it be one outfit, or many. What do you think?

What I Wore to BlogHer’14: The Blue Dress

BlogHer14-Blue-DressI saved this batch of photos for last, because they weren’t taken on anything fancy. These are straight from my BlackBerry Z10, hence the difference in quality from Jessica‘s photos. I still wanted to feature them because this dress received so much attention from people at the blogging conference, and on the blog as soon as I featured it on my BlogHer recap.

Oh this blue dress. I recently purchased it at Anthropologie for the cost of a couple of limbs. Anthro is my favourite store to shop at, but I try not to go inside too often because I want everything I see, and I cannot afford 90% of the things for sale there, except for things on major clearance. Regardless of that, I picked up this dress and immediately had buyers remorse. I left the tags on until the day I wore it, on the final day of BlogHer’14. My oh my, I have to be honest, I have never received so many compliments on an article of clothing I’ve worn. Ever. It made me feel like a million bucks. Women were asking where I got it, some were complimenting my legs (ooo, thanks!), and a man or two stared which boosted the ol’ ego.
