Alfie-looking-upHere I was yesterday photographing some beauty products at the top of the stairs with my perfect little set up with the best kinda sunlight coming in through the window. Mr. Man over here decided he wanted none of that, and all the attention on him. So he got right involved with getting in the way, pawing at me, and making whimpering noises. I couldn’t ignore that cuteness. So yea, he’s a little more than spoiled, but he’s our little buds!

Alfie-cuddleThe lighting is a bit off (and pic is pixelated) because the front facing camera on the Blackberry isn’t as good as the regular side. But I had to capture this shot of my little puppa cuddlin’ me. He was craving attention since I was focused on snapping pictures for the blog and instagram. Funny little fella hey. The people that know Alfie in person find it so hard to believe he’s actually affectionate and cute. Because out in public he’s a wild beast!

Alfie-laying-downAll nonchalant like he doesn’t even know I am there trying to work on my beauty pictures.

Alfie-cuddlesHe’s actually smiling! HAHAHAHAHAA.

Makeup-pic-for-blogOh, and here’s the instagram picture I was trying to snap while he was getting right up in my face. :) I was testing out the new YSL mascara that was sent to me in an Influenster Vox Box for testing purposes. Side note: why do all YSL products SMELL so good?! I’ve used this mascara before, and it’s great for both volume and lengthening, but it’s really pricey so I’ve only bought it once. You know, you can sign up for Influenster for free too if you use social media. You get all sorts of free goodies in the mail to test out. Here is my referral link. I have no idea what I get out of it if you sign up, but I thought it wouldn’t hurt to use it. Or not. Lol.

Have a great weekend! What are your plans?

Disclaimer: I received these products (YSL Mascara) complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.

Dior Kingdom Of Colors

Dior-KOC-headerYou might notice my hair is almost like a black-brown in these photos. I contacted my old hair stylist in Canada, asking what she used on my hair in the past so I ordered all the products off Amazon, and dyed my hair on Sunday. What I failed to ask my stylist was how long to leave the product on my hair (since everyone’s hair is different, the directions aren’t always what you should follow). I applied the colour to the roots then directly on my ends hence the darkness, where as next time I am to not apply it to my ends until the last 5 minutes. And next time I won’t get this stark black-brown hair colour. Live and learn!

Since many expressed their liking to the style of photos I did for the last Beauty Talk Tuesday, I have decided to keep it up. Dior has a new collection out called Kingdom Of Colors, so using one of the palettes out of the collection, I thought I’d create a ‘look’ for you, and as always I prefer the more natural look. This one palette I am using from the collection is an all-in-one sort of deal. I used it for blush, eye shadow, eyeliner, and even lip color. Let’s get right into it!

Dior-Skincare1. Dior Capture Total Le Serum: Applying a serum to my face to keep my skin hydrated all day long.
2. Bobbi Brown Extra Eye Repair: I finally finished my bottle of philosophy eye cream, and now onto another favourite by Bobbi Brown. This one is fantastic for sensitive/dry under eyes.
3. Philosophy Hope In A Jar (Original): Love the whipped consistency of this face cream.

Dior-foundation1. Diorskin Nude Air foundation (shade: 020): A brand new foundation by Dior that helps create a healthy glow. It’s a liquidy product so you have to be careful not to let it run off your hands (if you apply it to the back of your hand before dabbing your brush into it like me). It blends into the skin seamlessly creating a natural everyday look. I would say it offers light-medium coverage and feels lightweight on the skin. Not heavy like other foundations.
2. Cle de Peau concealer (shade: beige): One of my most expensive makeup purchases to date. But I will continue to repurchase this concealer. As always, I apply in a triangle shape to brighten the under eye.
3. Diorskin Nude Air Powder: I’m not entirely sure what this did to my skin, but I applied it anyway. Supposedly its a healthy glow invisible powder.

Dior-bronzer-blush1. Diorskin Nude Air Tan Powder: This bronzer is well loved, but you need to use a light hand otherwise it can leave an orange cast onto the skin. With any makeup, you should blend out any harsh lines after applying.
2. Dior Kingdom Of Colors palette (blush): See the asterisk * for which product I used. A coral blush is always something I gravitate towards, and this palette definitely has it.
3. Dior Backstage Eye Prime (shade: 002): Priming my eyelids for eye shadow.

Dior-eyes1. Dior Kingdom Of Colors palette (eye shadow): Take the purple shadow and apply all over the eyelid. Then use the bronzer to add depth to the crease of the eye. Finally brighten up the eye using one of the whiter shades in the palette and apply to the tear duct ara.
2. Dior Kingdom Of Colors palette (eyeliner): To make lashes look fuller, I used the Dior cream eyeliner in the palette.
3. Clinique High Impact Mascara & Tweezerman Eyelash Curler: Curl the lashes, and apply generous coats of mascara.

Dior-lips-and-nails1. Dior Kingdom Of Colors palette (lipstick): Using the only shade of lipstick in the palette, use the brush to apply the berry pink shade to the lips.
2. Dior Kingdom Of Colors palette (lipgloss): I went for the clear gloss to add some shine to my lips without adding extra colour.
3. Dior Vernis (shade: Lady): To finish off the look, I added a polish from the Dior Spring collection.

Get Ready With Me: Valentines Day

Get-Ready-With-Me-VdayThe second Beauty Talk Tuesday is a ‘get ready with me’ for Valentines Day post using a few of my favourite beauty products, along with some new ones that I am currently trying out. Whether you’re staying in with the girls, or going out on a date night, this Valentines Day look is for the woman that prefers subtle makeup. Mainly because I do not know how to do a smokey eye, and I prefer to look more natural than done up. Step by step, I will guide you on how to create this look, using products from philosophy, Dior, bareMinerals and a few others.

Let me know if you like the styling of the photos, and I’ll continue to take them this way. Lets jump into the makeup:Vday-Skincare

1. Dior Capture Totale Le Sérum: My skin is dehydrated so I apply a serum before any other products to lock in moisture.
2. philosophy miracle worker eye cream: A thicker silicone type eye cream, perfect for making the concealer glide on. Using my ring fingers I apply using a dabbing motion, not wiping in order to protect the delicate under eye area.
3. philosophy renewed hope in a jar: I am testing out this new formulation of hope in a jar. It has a lighter consistency than the regular version, it’s excellent for normal skin, but I still prefer the original.

Vday-Makeup1. bareMinerals Complexion Rescue (shades Ginger + Natural): This tinted hydrating gel cream is a brand new product out by bareMinerals. It provides a light to medium coverage, and I prefer mixing the two colours together to achieve a shade that matches my skin perfectly.
2. Cle de Peau concealer (in Beige): Applying concealer in a triangle under the eye immediately brightens the area up. Again, using a tapping motion with the ring finger not only protects the eye area, but keeps the product where you applied it, so it doesn’t smear your foundation.
3. Diorskin Nude Air Tan Powder: Bronzer is my favourite way to make my skin look like its been sun-kissed. I apply the colour to my forehead, temples, under the cheekbones, under the jaw line and on my nose then blend out any harsh lines with my foundation brush.
4. Dior Cheek & Lipglow: I thought this was a silly product when I first received it to review. But once applied, it creates a natural flush to the cheeks. I have been reaching for this on a daily basis over my cream blushes.

Vday-EyeMakeup1. Anastasia Brow Wiz in Caramel: This is an oldie but a goodie. I have dense brows as it is, but I like to reach for this when I am feeling a bit daring. I am not used to filling in my eyebrows, but I like to keep them manicured looking.
2. bareMinerals Lasting Line in Classic Cream: Using this flesh coloured eye pencil, I line my waterline to make my eyes appear wide awake and fresh faced.
3. Dior Backstage Eye Prime in 002: This product is well loved. An eye primer prevents your eye shadows from creasing, mutes out any veins or lines on your eyelid, and allows eye shadow to apply in its true colour.
4. Dior Kingdom Of Colours in House Of Pinks: Using each colour I created an everyday soft pink look with this neutral eye shadow palette.

Vday-Eyes-Lips-Nails1. Diorshow Kohl in black: A thin line of eyeliner is an excellent way to accentuate your eyelashes, and make them look fuller.
2. Tweezerman eye lash curler + bareMinerals Lash Domination mascara: You cannot finish a makeup tutorial and not make your lashes stand out. Lash Domination is a lengthening mascara with a plastic wand, so I didn’t see too much volumizing.
3. bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie lipstick in Dream Big: I think I have found my favourite nude lipstick. I felt confident wearing this all day long, and found myself applying it as soon as I noticed it wearing off.
4. bareMinerals Cream Glaze Lip Topcoat: A clear gloss to add some more attention to the lips. This lip gloss was a bit smelly, so I would use my Buxom or other bareMinerals gloss next time.
5. Dior Vernis in Glory and Top Coat in Blossoming: Painting my nails pink for Valentines day! I used only one coat of Glory, that’s how amazing the Dior formulation is. Then for an accent nail I used the playful confetti-like colour.

The final look!Valentines-Look
