All is right with Moukisac

(I made this super tiny, as I was pretty sweaty after just coming back from the gym)

I had such a nice chat over a few e-mails with the Vancouver based, owner and designer of moukisac.com when I first came contacted the company to do a review on my website. I think it’s fantastic how the internet is one huge networking place where you can meet some of the most kind hearted people. Funny how you feel you know the person somewhat well after just a few casual e-mails thrown back and forth.logo

I wanted to mention how annoyed I get when I forget to bring my reusable (plastic) bags, back to the grocery store with me, and I thought it was time to invest in some reusable bags that will withstand more than two trips back, without ripping apart. Not to mention the fact that I used to pay five cents each time I went to a store to pick up groceries. That and the fact that it’s terrible on the environment.

Stumbling upon Moukisac’s website only a short time ago and thought they were pretty pleasing to the eye, rather than using plain grey (again, plastic) bags that tear and rip if you hold them the wrong way. I was intrigued to read that Moukisac has 4 little mesh bags inside that I can use at the grocery store, instead of using the plastic produce bags for my fruits and veggies.

It looks like such a high quality product that is affordable, and stylish. Moukisac bags are perfect on the environment. It’s something that you can always keep in the trunk of your car and pull out at a moments need, but it’s so compact that you can store a couple in your purse if you just happen to be taking the walking route. I mean, check out the 45 second video on their website on how it can be used in a variety of ways. Verrrry neat.

Like I mentioned, Moukisac’s reusable bags are much different than the average. They come packaged up like you see above (folded over with velcro) and inside you’ll find a very light weight mesh bags. You know those tiny produce bags at the grocery store? Those are wasteful too! Try not to use them, or use Moukisac’s reusable ones with a dual draw string to keep your produce closed. You can have the bag clip onto you like a fanny pack (or a geek-pack as my boyfriend called it when he saw me try it on). Which made me feel vulnerable! So, you’re not going to see any photos of me wearing it on my side. I suppose it could be used as a purse too though, slung over one shoulder. But it was so convenient having it and not  searching for those plastic bags (because they’re always empty at my store!). I was too shy to ask the  Boyf to take a picture of me using these inside the store, so I decided to at least show you what I bought at the grocery store the other night while using these moukisacs.

Half unfolded

Fully unfolded

My food — all in there!

All in one easy pouch! Really neat huh?

I can’t begin to fathom the effect this would have on the environment if each and every person uses not just Moukisac bags, but any reusable bags. Imagine how many less disposable bags will be found in landfills and dumps! How many animals would be saved because of us making the RIGHT choices.

That one above, is mine. Moukisac is made with nylon which will last us a super duper long time! I currently have the new color Golden Sunshine, so bright, and springy. There are 11 different colors to choose from actually, which is pretty fun. So much more different than all the black ones you see everyone carrying around.

Try to minimize the amount of plastic bags that you use, especially for produce at the grocery store!

I will master this style

It’s safe to say I can be an Aveda advocate. I’ve been using their products since 2003 and I haven’t switched since. I’m dedicated to what works.

I mentioned on Saturday that I’d tell you all what products was used in the creation of the beautiful curls that the hair stylist put in my hair. Unfortunately, as easy as it may look  it was difficult to recreate lol. I usually only go to salons that uses primarily Aveda products, so when he was washing my hair — he was using the same shampoo that I use at home: Aveda Rosemary Mint (shampoo & conditioner). I’m not fond of the smell, but I switch up my Aveda shampoos regularly so I don’t have to smell it all the time. I loved my stylists personality, because I told him: “Is that Rosemary Mint? I have that at home — haven’t used it in a while because I get sick of the smell.” His response was awesome (I love this in a stylist — take charge, my friend!) “Hold your breath ha ha!

That right there, believe it or not made me trust him more. He’s not out to sweet talk me or apologize. He knows what he’s doing, and I bet if I ever said “Color my hair! Something crazy!” he’d do just that. A dramatic bold punch and wouldn’t let me look at it til he’s done. I definitely found my new stylist.

I’ll just do a run-down on what he used on my hair on Saturday:

Shampoo + Conditioner: Aveda’s Rosemary Mint
De-tangler/Leave-in Conditioner: AG Conditioning Mist.
Thermal Spray/Heat Protectant/ Gel Hold: AG Thermal Spray Gel. This product I can’t find on their website. Oh well, you can at least see what it looks like below.

I haven’t heard of AG (view their website) before, and my stylist recommended it to me over the Aveda items. Apparently it’s Canadian and he likes supporting that. He says the AG’s scent mimics Aveda’s shampoo and conditioners, however I have to disagree. Aveda smells like a salon, whereas the AG products smell like grapes or apples, more fruity. It’s a welcoming change, but once I use this whole bottle up and I’m not pleased with it? I’ll be going back to Aveda. I’m pessimistic with new products, so this one has a lot of owning up to do.

How did he curl my hair so nice and sleek? Well that my friends is a question I’ll be pondering for a while. All he did was dry my hair with the blow dryer with a regular brush, and when it was 75% dry he started round-brushing it which made it look sleek, and once he was done round brushing the roots, he ended up doing a little easy “flick” with the brush towards my ends, creating a nice subtle curl. I am going to master this technique, even if it takes months.

It always looks so much better when you’re about to go out the door. Then you get into work and the back of it looks like this…

Not even close to my ‘do on Sat.

At least I was complimented by the University’s printing-staff delivery lady! Success? Start small. Start small.

Be prepared to only see photos of me with curly hair in the future :)

Lululemon Run:Swiftly Tech SS

swiftly-purpleI loved it so much I bought it in three different colors! Call me crazy, but when I find something that works I buy multiples. No sense regretting not purchasing a fabulous item, right? Yes, it may not have been on sale and somewhat expensive but I take great care of my clothes — mainly the athletic stuff though as it gets washed on a delicate cycle in a laundry bag, and never put in the dryer. Plus, with all the paid blogging that I do I can afford to splurge on something nice for myself once in a while.

If I don’t end up wearing them all (since they still have tags on them) I can sell them on ebay! Plus these swifty tech tee’s don’t have to be worn just for working out — I can wear them with regular shorts for the summer and they’d be perfect with wicking the sweat away from the summer’s hot hot sun. Oh summer, I know you’re just around the corner!

I’m usually a 4 in Lululemon gear, but I ended up purchasing these tops in a size 6. I don’t know if Lululemon is true to size, really. In regular stores I’m a small. In Lululemon terms I’m an extra small. But since I bought the 6, am I now considered a small? Maybe it’s supposed to fit tighter, but I don’t think I’d like that. I have no idea what the sizes are all about. Let’s just say I’m between both!? :) I guess that’s how tuxedos fit too. Every store is different with their sizing. Inconsistent!

The top is amazingly soft to the touch but if you have dry skin you’ll hate to touch this as it sticks to your fingers (doesn’t that just sound nasty?). I swear, it’s not. I bet this would snag very easily, so no hang-nails/broken nails when you’re putting this shirt on! So be careful. When it’s on your body it feels like second skin, it’s so amazing. A review I read on the website  a woman didn’t seem to like the top as much and mentioned that the shirt rides up when you’re going for a run, or even exercising at the gym. For the most part, the reviews are 100% pure awesome on this top. I did not find that it rode up. Which is why I ended up purchasing more. I find that items that are a big hit, usually disappear off the website fairly quickly which is probably why I pounced on picking up two more colors after purchasing the “bold blue” (which is really purple) shade.

The quotes found on the inside bottom of the tee adds a nice touch, too.

treadmill“Life is too short for the treadmill” — it has lots of inspirational quotes going all over the bottom inside band!

It was a good buy.
