A full palette

Next time I buy an eyeshadow, I’m buying the pans because quite frankly it’s much more cost efficient to do it this way. Purchasing them in the pots are $17.50, and buying them in just the pan is $13.00! If you’re quick with the math that’ll save you so much money in the long run when you’re trying to fill out a palette. $262.50 (without tax) if you have 15 potted eye shadows, and $195 if they’re already in a pan. Bonus? The pans themselves have magnets on the backside of them and include a sticker with the name of the color, so when you run out you can check the underside and go buy a new one, without having to remember the shade/color or name! (Holy moses, I can’t believe I spent that much on eye shadow). Fortunately for me I don’t use up that much and only “hit the pan” on two shadows – which are just highlight shades and I can probably pick up my next ones from the cosmetic line NYX because I heard a few YouTube guru’s talk highly about that drugstore brand.

I ended up depotting my two Style Warriors eye shadows by MAC, and an Amazon Quad [x] from way back. So, I finally have a full palette of eye shadows! I actually have 16, but the pink shade from the Amazon Quad didn’t make it in, and is just sitting on my computer desk — for now. I rarely used it in the how every many years I’ve owned it, so it’ll be okay sitting on a shelf for a while longer. I picked up the MAC palette from MakeupAlley — swapped paypal money for the same MAC palette, but cheaper, online. My first one ended up getting lost in the mail, and the seller ended up sending me out another one at no extra cost. I still never saw the first palette first or last, nor did she. Postal ROBBERS!

Check it out! This is the best color representation I could get. No flash, in the sunlight. I don’t have all of the names memorized but I know most of them, so in case you want to know what color is what, I can do my best to answer them. My favorite color out of the whole bunch is the top right brown color — kind of shimmery. It’s called Sable. Ugh. Love it.

I now have an abundance of empty pots and MAC products to be brought in to “B2M” (Back 2 MAC) recycling program. Bring in 6 used items (mascara, foundation bottles, mac wipes packages, lip gloss containers, etc..) to a MAC counter and you get to choose a free lipstick! Though, I suggest you wait until you’re around a free standing MAC store (ie: not one in The Bay), and then you get to choose a lip gloss, lipstick, OR eye shadow! eee!!!

Keep dry with a bit of Cheeky!

Cheeky_Umbrella_Web28Ever since fall has arrived, I feel as if it’s been raining non-stop. What happened to the rain just being in the spring? April showers will bring May flowers — they’re missing October, November and December right? I have to say, the umbrella I received from Jen over at Cheeky Umbrella came at the perfect time. It’s a prime time of year to test out how great these umbrellas claim to be. In fact, the day I received it — it was pretty nasty outside with misty drizzle, so it was put to good use immediately.

I was sent the “It’s Raining, It’s Pouring” umbrella to review on my website. Well, as I mentioned that we’re in the rainy and windy season right now, right before all the snow bombards us; I have to admit that the umbrellas can definitely withstand Southern Ontario’s gusty wind on those gross gloomy days. The fabric is high quality, and the umbrella handle is quite long, so you could comfortably fit two people underneath. (Unlike my previous cheap purse-sized umbrella where half of my head got soaked if I let someone else carry the umbrella for me.) The curved handle is also some sort of cushioned material, so it’s very easy to hold onto, and is non-slip!

The adult umbrellas are a bit different than the children’s versions, as the adults have an automatic release button, which is key when you’re exiting a car for instance, in the mornings with your lunch tote, purse, and shoe bag all in hand. Just a simple flick of the switch and it’s open. However, the kid’s version is safer as it has the manual release. I’m sure kids would get a wee bit carried away and easily scare, or poke their sibling with the fun automatic mechanism that we adults get to enjoy.

What I love most about the umbrellas over at Cheeky Umbrella is the swanky designs to choose from. You get this burst of color as soon as you open your umbrella. Mine is a great shade of vibrant red and is always fun to open in the rain, look up and see a happy color instead of some boring black, or navy. It was really hard to choose a favorite as there were just so many neat designs. Check out what would have been my second choice: Raining Men Umbrella. Great play on words, and a great sunshine yellow.

Cheeky launched a kids umbrella section in November, so there are a whack of neat little designs for youngin’s as well. You know … Christmas is coming up and what better way to support a fellow Canadian, and check out what’s new over at Cheeky Umbrella! For all my fellow readers, we have arranged that a coupon code be set up on Cheeky Umbrella and you will be able to purchase an umbrella and save an extra 10% on your online order. Just enter the promotional code: SPIFFY and you’re set until my Dad’s birthday — January 15, 2010. I want to thank Jen for this opportunity — as she was so easy to work with!

The scarf that will forever keep me warm

Scarves seem to be the topic these days. It will only continue!

scarfI told you I was addicted to Etsy. When I was doing my Christmas shopping (yes, I am finished with the exception of my Boyfriends main gift) I decided to do it all online this year, and mostly on the wonderful place of etsy. I have no idea how I found this person, but I did and I’m glad I did at the right time because she was having a free shipping sale for her handmade scarves. Handmade people! This scarf I am wearing, was actually made to order, for me!! It came to a total of $30 USD with free shipping (which would only be $4 anyway to Canada), and since our CAN dollar is near par with USD as of today ($1.01!), it’d be a great gift. I would however suggest that you order one that is pre-made in order to get it for Christmas, if that is what you were planning to do.

Isn’t it amazingly gorgeous? What you all don’t know about me, is that when I was trying to figure out what I wanted to do in life, I was enrolled in a two year Arts program at a college. I learned to weave, and I loved it so much so that my Mom considered buying me a loom. Until I objected saying it was the most retarded thing she had ever suggested. Even though I loved making place mats and thick scarves for others when I was 18, I didn’t know it could turn into something so beautiful. So if you like my super long warm scarf, you may want to very well check out Nit’s Etsy shop and get one for yourselves. I’ve favored a couple of them since my purchase and am definitely going to buy more things, after Christmas when I have a few bucks back in my pocket.
