Eyeliners: Which colour would you reach for?

Mr-Write-NowtheBalm always has the perfect play on words for their packaging. Mr. Write Now are eyeliner pencils that come in 8 playful shades. Not only are they sweetly called Mr. Write Now, the specific colours are actually men’s names. Ha! Goodness.

Mr-Write-Now-TheBalmTop to bottom the colours are named: Brian B. Beige, Jac B. Bronze, Bill B. Mocha, Raj B. Navy, Dean B. Onyx. Fun, hey?

And the 5 colours swatched onto the back of my hand. Mr-Write-Now-swatches

Navy isn’t typically a colour I reach for, so I thought — this time for some blog swatches, why not? A softer look from black, but something more unusual than opting for a soft brown. navy-mr-write-now

Liner-and-sharpenerThe bottom of the eyeliner pops off and there is a mini sharpener in each one for convenience and precise application.

There are definitely more soft and creamier feeling eyeliners out there. I would rate this one a B if I was a teacher. Which I’m not (in case you were wondering).

Hourglass Arch Brow

Hourglass-boxIn its sturdy metallic brown packaging Hourglass Arch Brow is no doubt a beautiful looking product. But let’s talk more about how it performs rather than how gorgeous it feels in the hand.

As stated on Hourglass website, the Arch Brow has 9 shades to choose from allowing you to customize your intensity. You can layer this product with more pressure for dark/bold brows, or use lightly to have a natural, softer look.
Warm-Blonde-Soft-Brunette

Hourglass-ArchBrowIn my other post comparing two eyebrow pencils (Hourglass + Dior) I showed you close ups of the two products. Hourglass Arch Brow product has a unique shape with its chiselled triangular shaped tip and light application onto the skin. It is a combination of powder, pencil and wax which can be easily buildable to achieve a natural looking eyebrow look.

Hourglass-spoolie

Hourglass-ArchBrow-SwatchAnd here they are swatched on my hand for comparison. I primarily use the soft brunette, and only used warm blonde a few times to swatch on my eyebrows and on the back of my hand for blog photos. Although warm blonde is comparable to Dior Universal Brown, I still pick up Hourglass soft brunette to use over the warm blonde shade.

After using Hourglass since the beginning of September (and Dior since April), I’m pleased to tell you guys that both eyebrow pencils last the entire length of the day. I’m talking straight from 8am to 10pm without a hitch. These products are good you guys. Hourglass feels soft, yet waxy, so it lasts all day without budging. The Soft Brunette colour I use on my eyebrows from Hourglass has absolutely zero red tint to it — something that is difficult to find if you’re a brunette looking for an ashy-brown shade to match your brows perfectly.Hourglass-Arch-Brow

Keep the glow during the cooler months

Highlighted-cheeksYou guys know I love a dewy look. I achieve said look by applying my favourite moisturizer and a dewy, natural looking foundation.

But sometimes that’s not enough to keep the glowy look on my skin during the cooler months. My skin needs more moisture and attention, so I step up the moisturization game into something more hydrating and thick when my skin is looking thirsty and tired.

This is why I’m so glad highlighters were invented. However it’s easy to go overboard on the highlighting trend these days. Trust me when I say a little goes a long way, because I don’t want to be too bronzed, and too highlighted. I mean, I’m supposed to know what I’m doing here. Hello, weekly beauty features on spiffykerms, am I right? Honestly, I learned it all in the ways of wonderful YouTube.

We’re getting a little off topic. Let’s get back on.

Mary-Lou-Manizer

theBalm-maryloumanizerI’m used to cream highlighters, just like all of the other cream products that I like applying on my face. But I’ve easily switched over to a powdered highlighter from thebalm Cosmetics.

Applying-MaryLouManizerFirst time I applied Mary-Lou Manizer (fun name, right?) I couldn’t see it much because I applied it in my yellow-lighting bathroom. Came out and looked at my reflection in daylight, and got a bit of a fright. Please apply this lightly, and in daylight especially! thebalm-cosmetics-loumanize Hooboy I’m telling you this product is going to last me a lifetime. I feel like I say this a lot when I use a little amount of a product, but you guys know it’s true. Imagine this applied on your eyelids as a pop of shimmer to your overall look. I might not apply both this as an eyeshadow and a highlighter, but you do you girl. Whatever floats that boat, right?

And there you have it. A faux glow if you will, for fall and winter. Keep lookin’ healthy folks (wait… and BE healthy too). Got it? :)
