My CrossFit Journal (Year 2 Week 25)

This week I killed it at CrossFit. I felt so strong and ended up using a dead lift weight of 135lbs for a WOD. My back wasn’t even a tad sore the next day. Perhaps I should’ve used more!

Before I get into the CrossFit WODs re-cap from last week I wanted to give you a heads up and let you know that Reebok officially released its Fall/Winter 2013 Women’s Fitness and Lifestyle apparel and footwear collections in Canada, as of August 1. The collection was designed by women, including Reebok partners Alicia Keys and “rebel yogi” Tara Stiles. Crazy right? Here’s a preview of what’s to come in stores. So excited.

I had the opportunity to have a peek at all of the collection but I’m just going to post my favorites and what is more appealing to me (ie: not wedge sneakers).

I really love these orange ‘sweat pants’. I live in sweat pants come winter time. Plus orange is my favorite color. They look like a nice cut with straight legs and not so constricting ankles. Not sure of the cost of this one.Reebok_Yoga_BB_Fleece_Cuffe

I buy anything that has stripes on it. There’s a lot of stripey clothes in my wardrobe. But not so much my workout clothes. The racer back is a nice touch to show off those muscles. Not sure of the cost of this one.Reebok_Yoga_Power_MYOY_LBT2

These are the Reebok One training shoes. I’m assuming they’re the shoes you can wear to CrossFit. I bought a pair of yellow nano 2.0’s online when I was doing my Paleo challenge. These babies will be $109.99.Reebok_ONE_Trainer1

There’s also some sneakers for the runners out there. Love the colors of everything! They have three-foam midsole to maximize performance. One running shoe is designed for comfort and stability, and the other is the pronator version which has a flatter arch. (L-R: Reebok One Guide $139CAD, Reebok One Cushion is $129)Reebok_ONE_Guide1

And of course since the colder months are inevitably upon us. I live in thicker leggings at CrossFit when it’s cooler out. Even those these are geared to more runners. Sports Essentials Tight — $49.99.Reebok_Sport_Essentials_TigCan’t say no to a good sports bra. This one is called the Sports Essentials Short Bra Top and it’ll retail for $29.99 CAD.Reebok_Sport_Essentials_Sho

Saving the best for last. The awesome Reebok ONE Training Women’s Jacket is $79.99. Super unique looking and the colors again go so great together.Reebok_ONE_Training_Woven_J

5 rounds

I ended up completing 5 full rounds, plus the 8 supines and 30 second v-out. I used a 14lb med ball for the wall balls.

I used 135lbs for the dead lifts! By the time the 7th & 8th round was done I couldn’t finish all six burpees :(

AMRAP 10

Philosophy Time In A Bottle

When I was at my cousins house in Guelph talking about skin care products and what we all use on our faces and bodies, we got to talking about how women aren’t aging as quickly any more. People in their 60’s look like they’re in their late 40’s. It’s all because we’re starting to take better care of ourselves, eat right, and keep skin hydrated and of course, limit sun exposure. (Side note: I have yet to go to the beach this summer. I really do love the beach, but haven’t had an opportunity to lay on one yet.)

This new product by Philosophy called Time In A Bottle was recently launched. I first heard about it when I sat down with the representatives from Philosophy in June, when they were doing an early launch at Sephora in the Eaton Centre.

your-time-starts-now

Since I’m no stranger to Philosophy products I wanted to learn more about it. I mean, look at the hoard of products I have from them already. I could open my own skin care store!spiffykerms-philosophy-junkphilosophy

I sat down with a few of the women who were demonstrating the product and getting skin analysis’ done. I should’ve really kept my skin analysis because it would’ve been helpful to your to see. But it was gross looking, so I chucked it out a few days after I got home from Toronto.

Time-In-A-Bottle2

Time In A Bottle is quite the expensive serum and since I have a huge love for Philosophy products I asked if I could review this one. Thus, the sample sized bottles shown in the pictures.Time-In-A-Bottle

The full sized Time In A Bottle comes in two separate containers. One being the product, the other being the activator. Apparently it maximizes its benefits that way. Who knows. I think it’s neat marketing on their part to make it feel extra special.  Note: you only have three months to use up the bottle after mixing it.

Why I wanted to use it:
If you’re concerned with age spots, you can reduce them with the vitamin C to the power of 8. (C8 for short).

How to use:
Cleans your skin, apply Time In A Bottle, and follow through with your regular routine after that. Mine would be putting on more Philosophy products: Hope In A Jar moisturizer, then Miracle Eye Cream that I purchased in June.

Sometimes you can get a little discoloration in your face from skin damage, or even pregnancies. I’ve applied it morning and night. Like most Philosophy products, it works on my skin. It doesn’t sting, or have a scent — just absorbs perfectly into my skin.

Have I noticed a difference after using the two product samples up?

Well let me say this much. I do like hydrating my skin and keeping it quenched. Plus, at my age you’re not going to tell a significant difference as I don’t have large pores, noticeable wrinkles or much sun damage. I mean my skin texture is smoother and even though I don’t have…. saggy skin or anything my face feels a bit firmer. Is that weird?

Will I be buying the full sized product of it? No, not at this time. I’m going to keep using Philosophy products but it’s much too far out of my price range, and I already moisturize my skin twice a day with Philosophy product, so I think I’m on the right skin-care road.

How often do you moisturize?

What kind of skin care do you use?

Red lip ladies

Boom. Those red lips stand out, don’t they?bold-red-lips

Who knew I’d be bold enough to pull off a red lip?

Want to know where to get it? Shoppers Drug Mart, my Canadian friends. It’s the Fall 2013 launch from Annabelle Cosmetics.

Gotta say, I’m kind of enjoying how it looks on me. It even makes my teeth look whiter. You can see for yourself in the short outfit of the day video I filmed over the weekend.

Below is a photo of the Annabelle Retractable Eyeliner in the beautiful violet purple shade caled Twilight. Since I don’t wear much eye makeup often, I’ve only worn this twice. So far so good, it lasts a while and it’s not a very stark shade like black would be. It definitely brought out those blue eyes of mine ;) You can pick up this shade or any of the 6 in the collection from Shoppers Drug Mart. Retails for $9.95.annabelle-liner

Get this. The end of the retractable eyeliner POPS OFF, and has a tiny little sharpener on the end. Always have a point to do precise lines!annabelle-eyeliner

Next up is my favorite, clearly since I filmed a video and took a ton of photos of me wearing it. monroe-red-lip-crayon

A lip crayon in the color Monroe. All I need is a little mole by my lips and then you can call me Marilyn. It’s such a fun color to wear, especially in the summer. I have my self tanner on, and I also just recently dyed my hair darker. So the color really pops! Excuse the weird lip pose. I was trying something new. I won’t do it again ;) pop-of-red

There’s 12 brand new shades to choose from. All the way from bold, to pinks and of course neutrals. It wasn’t drying on my lips and had a bit of sheen so it wasn’t completely matte on my lips, thus not drying them out which was a bonus.monroe-red

I’m going to use this twist up lip crayon up in no time. Good thing they’re only $10.99 from Shoppers Drug Mart!annabelle-fall-2013

Included in the Fall 2013 Annabelle launch are some great eyeshadows. A quad with some beauty purples and pinks, and then a few trios to choose from. You can see a more in depth review of all the Annabelle Fall 2013 collection from a fellow blog friend, Aleeza from Toronto.
