Father’s Day Presents

Full Disclosure: I received the Parker Urban pen to review on my blog, and to give one away to my Canadian readers. I was not compensated for this post. Read away!

Let’s hear it for the Dad’s out there!

What are some of your favorite memories of your Father? I have many that come to mind:

  • I remember him teaching me how to ride my bicycle in our previous house. I was peddling so fast I remember looking over my shoulder to see if he was still there. There he was, running full tilt trying to keep me safe with his hand on the back of my seat so I wouldn’t fall.
  • Doing countless under-ducks on the swing set in the backyard that my parents built for us.
  • I remember even though he was faint at the sight of blood, he still helped clean up my scraped knee wounds… all while making a “schhhhh” noise in between his teeth to let me know that it was painful looking and he was glad it wasn’t his knees ;)
  • I helped him go out to different building sites when he was an Architect, and my job was to “slap” the chalk line on the wall. lol… hey I loved it.
  • He makes really amazing bacon. I can’t even make it that good, and I make it weekly now.
  • He shares his candy with me. It’s a pretty big deal, especially since he hides it in all sorts of places all over the house.

So cheers to all the Daddio’s out there who are just starting out as first-time-Dad’s, changing diapers without being asked, fathers who push you on swings and make you frozen pizza or kraft dinner, every day for lunch. Thanks to all of you. You’ve given your children a priceless gift, by being there for us.

Eat your vegetables!

Eat your vegetables, take your vitamins! It’s what I remember hearing as a kid. You?

What veggie did you hate as a kid, but now enjoy? Broccoli for me. I still don’t really like it. But I eat it because I’m an adult and it has some good health benefits. I just discovered my love of cauliflower a few years ago. I was missing out for so many years!

I documented in January mentioning that I was starting to take vitamins on a daily basis. The reason behind it all, was because I had a poor diet, and my family kept suggesting I start taking supplements.

And that’s exactly what I’m doing.vitamins1

vitamins2

For a few years I ended up buying iron pills, multivitamins and other supplements I thought I needed — but they all got forgotten about (and reminded about each time the Boyf popped his nightly pills vitamins).

Enough was enough. I felt as if I was being nagged and I decided to subconsciously make a 2013 New Years Resolution to make an effort in bettering my body.

vitaminsI bought one of those old person pill holders, filled them up each Sunday night ready to start the week.

Gotta be honest. Haven’t really noticed anything significant in my body to write home about after taking all the supplements. But I can only assume it’s doing more good than harm. Right?

A few months into me taking the daily vitamins I received an e-mail from Koge Vitamins asking if I wanted to try out a 30 day trial of whatever I chose.

I ended up going with Daily Vitamins, just so I could stop taking a monster amount of pills each day. 3 is enough!

The packaging was quite nice, don’t you think?Koge

Koge Vitamins
Each Daily Pack Includes:

  • Two Multivitamins
  • One Omega-3

You can buy it on their site for $29.99.

All Koge vitamins are physician quality (Health Canada and FDA approved, backed by the CEO of the Canadian Olympic Committee) and they avoid artificial flavors, colors, preservatives, etc. to keep it clean and natural.

So folks, I’ve finished the 30 day cylindrical tube of pills. Do I feel any different? No, not quite. But I think adding in healthy fats like Omega 3 is beneficial, especially since I was on paleo for those thirty days in April/May. But I will keep taking Omega 3 supplements with my other daily pills.

One thing about Koge Vitamins is that they control the entire supply chain process which allows them to eliminate a significant portion of excess costs that customers normally incur by shopping at retail locations.  This is the reason they offer quality product at prices that are affordable.

If you want to try out Koge Vitamins, they’ve kindly offered up 20% discount for all you guys! Just use the code: SPIFFY.

Disclaimer: I received compensation and product from Koge Vitamins. The opinions, as always, are my own.

Ralph Lauren and essie team up

Do you remember the first perfume you ever purchased? I vaguely remember which was first, but it was a tie between GAP dream perfume, and Ralph by Ralph Lauren.

I went through endless amounts of those travel sized bottles of GAPs perfume. Why did they stop making them?

Each time I go into Sephora I gravitate towards that RL perfume. It brings me back to the years 1999-2004 when I wore it religiously. It was my signature scent back in those days. My best friend Jenna ended up receiving it as a gift, which ended up smelling just as good on her as it did me.

Ralph Lauren and essie have come together to create four limited edition collection which features one of the four  Big Pony Women Fragrances  and an essie nail polish to represent each perfume’s “personality”.  Each nail polish color is unique and designed exclusively for these sets.ralph-lauren-sport

Set 1: Sporty
Set 2: Sensual
Set 3: Free Spirited
Set
4: Stylish

Since I’m more of a sporty person I received set #1.Ralph-Lauren-Essie

The scent on this one just reminds me so much of Ralph by Ralph Lauren. Perhaps it is that scent. I’m not sure. But it smells great and perfectly me.

The summer nautical blue polish I received in the sporty set is just called #1 Blue. It will look fantastic on tanned toes in the summer. I’m bringing this polish with me next time I get a pedicure.

Rita Remark, essie’s Lead nail artist who created four amazing looks for each collection, does a “how to” on the unique nail looks she created. So fun.
