Canada Day Long weekend + a giveaway!

This has got to be one of the top ranked weekends in 2012 thus far. For one, it was incredibly relaxing and two I got to spend it all with my Boyfriend. Now, you’d think I’d always spend weekends with my Boyf. But I don’t. Many of you already know this about him but he’s an Ironman Triathlete and is always on the go, training on his bike, going for long swims and pounding the pavement going for long runs.

I managed to go for a run during the early morning on Canada Day and ended up doing more km’s than I ever have in two years. I think it’s due to the fact that I didn’t know where I was going, and I could keep going and wasn’t thinking about how fast I could/should be going. I ran 7.5km’s in total.

I came back pretty sweaty.

I didn’t run it as fast as I usually like to go, but that wasn’t the point of this run. It was just to get out there and go.Our dog Alfie was looking pretty antsy on Canada Day and the Boyf and I then decided to venture out on a walk with him.

We ended up going for 90 minutes in total. So long but so relaxing!

I even found a set of swing stets and started squealing with excitement and going high in the air. Then Scott reminded me it wasn’t all that high and started poking fun at me ;) It sure felt high ….

Of course Canada Day wouldn’t be complete without Fireworks and some treats! We also heard some hoodlums setting them off at 3:00am that night as well. It woke us up and we were pretty angry about it to be honest, ha..Seeing as we had intended on waking up early to drive to Grand Bend beach!!! YEAHH.

We arrived super early in the morning and reserved some prime real estate on the beach. The boyf and I stayed there til mid-afternoon, cooking in the sun, then cooling off with a quick dip in Lake Huron. It was the perfect day anyone could ask for on a beach. It wasn’t too hot when you were laying down but you did get hot, and ended up quickly cooling off in the water. A light breeze, not windy at all.I’m kind of glad I didn’t bring my iPad or kindle to the beach that day because my Blackberry had to be put away for fear of covering it in sand. Danger bay!

We even brought along some popcorn supplied by Orville Redenbacher, sandwiches, water and apples to chaw on while we were there.

We were done for the day and decided to venture on back to our homeland. It wasn’t long after this photo was taken that I took a big chunk out of my middle finger. I accidentally rolled up the window with one hand while my fingers were still at the top on the other hand. Blood. Everywhere. I silently cried, and I felt like such a little girl with tears streaming down my face while Scott pulled over the car and bandaged me right up. It wasn’t deep enough for stitches, and I think it was just the initial shock and pain that threw me over the edge. I’ll spare you the details and any photos. But I’m all good now, with a nice band-aid over top for a few days :)

Back to the grind tomorrow. Back to reality.

Make Up For Ever—You’ve been busy

I’ve been blogging a lot about Make Up For Ever products a lot recently, but that’s because they’ve been busy coming up with some great products for us all to buy!

They have recently come out with a product called Eye Prime. Make Up For Ever’s first eye shadow primer. A crucial makeup item to lust after if you have oily eyelids, such as myself. It’s the only oily part on my entire body. I don’t get it, really.

A versatile nude color. It’s time to prime — psh look at me rhyme! I should claim that slogan. For eye primers, you can either wear it on its own to brighten your eyelid area, or wear it underneath eyeshadow to help intensify your shadow colors even more.

Make Up For Ever has also released some new Aqua Cream colors. These are completely smudge-proof and waterproof, which won’t crease, run or transfer. I haven’t had a chance to swatch any of the colors in store yet, but you can see how many colors there are from the photo above. Plus, all of them you can apply on your cheeks for a bit of a glow, or even the lower colors to your lips as well.

Since there is a variety of colors to choose from, it’s going to be so fun to play with them for the summer. You can wear them alone of layered with eyeshadow. Have fun with it and buy a few of the Aqua Cream’s, since you can also mix them together. There’s an infinite number of looks you can do with these eye-catching hues.

Make Up For Ever Eye Prime ($25) and Aqua Creams ($26) are now available at Sephora stores across Canada.

See and Be Seen. But also be exclusive

I love it when things are available for an exclusive amount of time, because everyone can’t get it. Then I feel all important that I have something “exclusive”.

But then again. I think of it, and I’m semi-sad that something can only be available for a limited amount of time. So I can’t say it will be a holy-grail product, or that you can get it at any time. Because for this set, you cannot. You need to bust your butt to Sephora and buy it now. That is, if you like make up.

The grass is always greener on the other side, as they say. Right?

For instance; The Seen and Be Seen kit is a limited edition makeup kit that will only be available at Sephora or online at Anastasia.net for a few more weeks. Plus, one of the main reasons you should (well, not should per-say. But if you’d like to, then do it) purchase the kit is because of the great price. It’s an $80 value for a $57 ($44 USD) price tag. The most perffff opportunity to give Anastasia products a try. In fact, I’ve become quite familiar with Anastasia products. I use their Lash Genius on a daily basis to prevent mascara fall out at the end of the day. It works great and it comes off well with just my finger tips and a bit of my Philosophy facial cleanser.  I’ve also received previous Anastasia lip products in my beauty subscription boxes. I think Glymm gave them out a few months back with some clear brow gel. Anastasia’s See and Be Seen kit*

I loved the retro packaging they used to promote this kit!

Who remembers these personal slide show things from when they were a kid!? It brought back so many early childhood memories. I loved it!

There’s four great products. I think my favorite has to be the HydraFull glosses.

Everything came packaged up with Anastasia’s logo over it. Nice branding on their part.

Again. Limited edition colors, not available anywhere except the Seen and Be Seen Kit.

You can see on my hand how opaque the lip glosses are, when swatched. Click to enlarge the image above. The applicator of the lip glosses aren’t my favorite as they’re a plastic wand and not a brush or a sponge tip. But none the less I’ll work with it, and they’ve got a nice finish and below you can see them each on my lips.

HOLY. OPAQUE. I’m telling ya.

Anastasia Beverly Hills eye shadows.

The  gorgeous eyeshadow duo with soft pink and golden hues. I’m a huge fan of naturals. Naturals are the easiest to wear for sure.

I actually swatched the eye shadow’s in Sephora when I spotted it there last week. They have the most creamy texture, it was a dream on the finger tips. The colors didn’t need that much swiping and had a ton of color just with one swipe of the finger.

Then we have the new caramel tinted Brow Gel. I’m not entirely sure how to use this product. I’m personally excited about the kit for the lip glosses and shadows. Do you just brush this on your brows like a mascara? I’d assume so. Kind of a neat product if you want your unruly brows to stay shapely. ha. Shapely. It’s like I’m talking about bodies. But I’m here talking about hair. On your face. Carry on folks…

I ended up giving the brow gel to my co-worker L McMomsie who is usually featured on my blog at least once a month. She has such blonde hair that the caramel color of this brow gel was absolutely perfect for her. L literally brushed it on her eyebrows and it made a noticeable difference, but not too out there. It looks good on her!

Love the vintage ads they’ve designed for this exclusive (my new favorite word) kit.

What do you think of the kit being exclusive? Do you like the colors in the kit?
