TGIF!

Went to a Lexus/Toyota dealership yesterday. Boy was looking at lexus’ (IS 350 & IS F models), as I was looking at the grandma corollas. Gotta say, I like the S model of them, and they’re so comfortable inside. Just the ones I was looking at had a lot of mileage on them for how old they were. They dropped the price by 1,200 on a corolla I was eying. Still pretty expensive for an ’05 model though. I’m not set on anything yet, ’cause I haven’t test driven any. Save that for this weekend I think. We’ll see.

Today is supposed to reach a high of 23ºC. I’m wearing my capri’s (or bermuda shorts, as a co–worker worded them) at work and totally taking lunch outside today. I don’t really have anything that interesting to tell you all this morning, so I’m going to leave you all with a playful website I found thanks to some friends. I’ve had way too much fun doing this. The last two images are ones I snapped of my hunky boyfriend. HEE HEE. Visit the site here.

The smallest things, make me giddy

Holy hannah, the world cannot get any smaller can it? Us Newfies are everywhere!

I work at a small two branch Credit Union (as a Graphic Designer & Marketing Assistant) that has about 40 employees, none of which are in my age category unfortunately. Back on topic. Naturally small Credit Unions do not have in house solutions to compliance and fraud detection, so of course they out source. The Finance Dept. Manager came over to my office this afternoon and presented a printed envelope with a name/company and address.  She jokingly pointed out Newfoundland Dr. on the envelope and said “As if they couldn’t think of a better name for this huh?

(The next part really points out my ditzy personality.)

I smiled and said  “Oooh that’s neat. We actually have a Newfoundland Drive back home too!” Then my eyes wandered up at the company and I clued in that I’ve heard that company name before. I was thinking and thought that hmm, bet this isn’t in Ontario! Then my eyes scrolled down to the city and province. DUH — It was indeed,  St. John’s Newfoundland!  So I got all kiddy and smiley and said to the Finance Manager that “I totally know someone who works at that company!” She asked for his name, and when I told her she didn’t know who he was. We then went to another one of our co–workers who speaks to people regularly, at this company asking if he was a hottie and what not (haha!). I told the story about how he’s an Engineer and my BFF is one, and used to go to Engineering parties all the time when I was in school. It’s sort of how I met my boyfriend. I was friends with his best friend  (the guy who works at this company) for a while, and then met my boyfriend through him!

Needless to say I was pretty excited that we did business with this company. The the envelope addressed to the Administrative Assistant, (I have no idea how big this company is but I’m assuming it’s not absolutely ginourmous because I know what the outside of it looks like) so I wrote a little “hello” note to my friend! Hopefully the admin. assistant knows my buddy and will pass my “hello, from nancy ***!” note on to him.

Tee hee!

Eliminating stress via shopping!

Last week and half of this week has been utter chaos at work. So, I went on a bit of a shopping extravaganza on Monday night, after a tough day at work. Everything I did, went wrong. Everything I sent to anywhere, got phone calls back. Everything that could go wrong, did go wrong. First of all, I woke up to the door wide open the whole night, so again  I had to be the bad guy,  e–mailed all of my room mates + landlord, saying that this was the second time this happened, please have some consideration for others who also live in the house, with expensive things. The neighborhood I live in, doesn’t exactly have a high crime rate. But that doesn’t give everyone free will to keep doors open AND unlocked all night long. That really pisses me off. I don’t want to be a mother–figure here. But obviously nobody gives two craps. Not even the landlord who owns the beautiful house! Jeesh! I bet they’d all care if it got broken into, and vandalized! I got splashed on the way to work, by vehicles on the road, since we’re having a warm spell this week. I slipped and fell on the ice, walking to the bus stop after work, since it was colder around 5 o’clock.

Then. At work. I was working on a poster for a new loan we’re coming out with at the end of the month, and when I was closing out InDesign, I thought I was editing the loan application design, and not the poster. So when it asked me to save, I said no. Until I realized it was the poster I was editing, and not the app. AWESOME! Oh, another fail of the day: I was helping my boss at the end of the day, get some freebie packages together for a seminar, so I was in the middle of grabbing some pens from the cupboard. Usually they’re bundled up in elastic bands (which they still were) but when I grabbed them. The elastic broke, and an ocean of pens surrounded our feet. I smacked my head with disbelief, and my boss just told me to go home (in a nice way, obviously) hahah. I decided that I needed some retail therapy after my stressful day.

What better way to end a terrible day than to shop with a GIFT CARD. Oh yes. I still hadn’t spent the generous gift card my boss gave me for Christmas! Yay new work clothes! I’m wearing the first outfit you see, on the left. Pretty schnazz–a–riffic, don’tcha think?
