My CrossFit Journal (week 52)

It’s my first anniversary at CrossFit!! I’ve been going for a whole YEAR. That seems like madness to me. Regular gym memberships hold my interest for 4 months tops, and to see myself still going frequently without much break to CrossFit excites me! What’ve got rounded up for this week? Not much gotta admit. I was feeling pretty lazy this week. So I didn’t go as often as I wanted to. Next week will be better!

Week 52 Day 1.

21-15-9

Power Cleans; 115/80lbs
Thrusters; 115/80lbs

That’s 21 power cleans, then 21 thrusters, 15 power cleans, 15 thrusters, and so on. OH MY LORD.

I used 45lbs in total and finished the workout in 16:13. My shoulders are still pretty weak in comparison to the rest of my body. So the thrusters were taking their toll on me. Especially on my right wrist. Power through it! I had enough of it all when I had to start the thrusters again, but then I totally played with my mind. I pretended I was throwing my nephews up in the air and somehow, it made it easier. I wasn’t thinking about the weight at all. I was thinking about my nephews. Funny what your brain can trick you to do.

My CrossFit Journal (week 49) & GIVEAWAY!

Week 49 Day 1.

7 Rounds

7 Front Squats; 165/115lbs
7 Chest To Bar Pull-ups

We had a 20 minute time limit and I finished my workout in 19:50. My wrists killed from the front squats. I lifted 55lbs in total, which was plenty. Since I still can’t do strict pullups on my own, unassisted I did 10 kips each round instead of 7 chest to bar’s.

Week 49 Day 2.

“Fight Gone Bad”
3 Rounds:

1 Min Wall Balls; 20/16lbs  (I used 12lbs)
1 Min SDHP; 75/55lbs  – I went all out and used the 55lbs!!
1 Min Box Jumps; 24/20″ 20 inch box jumps. Totally doable
1 Min Push Press; 75/55lbs  Yep, I used 55lbs for this one too
1 Min KB Swings; 20/16kg I dropped down to 12kg for these
1 Min Rest

It didn’t seem like a bad workout, I mean it’s only 15 minutes right? It left me breathless and I stumbled to the bathroom to catch my breath and wanting to puke at the same time. I LOVE these WODs the best. The faster the better. I’m so self-competitive, I don’t want to give up.

I also have a little surprise for you guys today! I last spoke about Goody Hair ties in a recent YouTube video that I filmed.

I thought it was appropriate to host this giveaway on my 3 weeks shy of a whole year at CrossFit. I always wear my hair up when I go to work out, of course. Since I have long hair and all. Here’s a recent find and fav of mine, the Goody Doublewear products. When the elastics are on your wrists, they look like little bracelets! Cute right? I’ve been wearing them mostly on my wrists at work as decoration. But they’re always around when I need to put my hair up. Which is never, unless I workout, which is always after work. Does that make sense? lol. DoubleWear allows you to wear a hair elastic on your wrist (and even now on your neck) and have it double as jewelry. The bracelets look great stacked with other bangles you may own. I’ve seen them displayed at Walmart, Shoppers DrugMart, and Loblaws.

What one’s are your favorite? Silver or Gold? I’m definitely loving the silver ones. Anyway, if you want to win all of the Goody DoubleWear items shown above, just use the form below and comment away! Good luck!

My CrossFit Journal (week 48)

After weeks of skipping out of CrossFit throughout my Christmas holidays and then just being lazy coming back into it going just once a week. I’m back at it! Here we go with the recap of week 48. Actually, I thought I’d go on Saturday but I most definitely slept in, which was much needed.

I’ve decided to post my CrossFit weekly re-caps on Monday instead of Saturday and just take a break from blogging on the weekends. Plus, I think blogs gets more exposure on week days than on the weekends anyway. Though I do post the weekly CrossFit journal for my own benefit to look back on and when a WOD comes up that I haven’t seen in a while I can always look back and see how much I lifted, or what my max was, and see if I can beat it. So here we go, onto the weekly workout.

Week 48 Day 1.

Snatch Push-Press.
3-3-3-3-3-3

My limit is apparently 65lbs. I tried to go up to 70lbs and dropped the weight when I tried to do just one. I tried twice and just gave in to my limit at 65lbs. A snatch push press is basically a push press but you start with the weight on the back of your shoulders and push up from there. The pushing up is the ‘easiest’ part. Coming down is the roughest on all parts of your shoulders and upper arms. You need to baby it coming down on your traps otherwise your neck is going to get the brunt of the weight, which isn’t fun.

Here’s a little video of what it consists of.

The “cool down” which wasn’t on the website at all had a 12 minute time limit:
200 skips

50 kettle bell swings (I used 12kg)
40 box jumps (16″)
30 squats
20 pushups
10 pullups (I did kips instead)

Completed in 9:29! Nice little finisher to get that heart rate going.

Week 48 Day 2.

The McGhee WOD

AMRAP 30
5 Dead Lift (275/225) I used 105lbs
13 Push Ups
9 Box Jumps (24/20) I used at 20″ box

I think I did 10 rounds in total. The reason why I felt I didn’t do more was that we were supposed to do the pushups inwards, where your elbows are tucked into the body instead of out in the photo shown above. I even had to do them off my knees. By the end of it I was only getting one out at a time and was getting so unbelievably frustrated lol.

What did everyone do this weekend? I gutted our entire apartment. First it was the bathroom, then my computer desk and a dropping grounds for all of the Boyfriends paperwork, which was his work bench. Tons of stuff went to recycling and some even went into a trash pump. I’ll post photos soon of my computer desks before/after.
