Addicted to Stationary (here’s a haul for ya)

Stationary-HeaderA post from me, a little out of the ordinary. But for those who’ve known me ages, know it’s not out of the ordinary that I spend a good hour or more in a stationary store. And ya know San Francisco Bay Area has a ton of them. I’ve even made trips to San Francisco JUST to visit these said stores.

I’ve always been a pen/pencil/marker/stationary/notebook collector my entire life. I have tons of little notebooks back home in Newfoundland filled with the same type of cartoon characters, over and over and over again.

My stationary and writing utensil game hasn’t changed at all. I’d like to think it all came from my Father being an Architect and he wore that off onto me a little bit, with the fascination of different pen tips, and whatnot. So, I’m here to share a little bit of goodies I found while shopping around the past few years here in California. I’m especially loving the Japanese stationary stores, all sorts of wonderful gems in there for a fraction of the cost of what I’d find elsewhere.

First up are some items I was sent from Cool Pencil Case (sent for review).cassette-pencil-caseSince I’m an 80’s baby I knew immediately I wanted to get the Tape Cassette pencil case. It’s AWESOME. I wonder if kids these days know what this is? I should ask my nephews, hah.

Pencil-caseIt has a zippered pouch and you can hold tons of layered pens on top of one another due to how the zipper is sewn on, so you’re not limited to how many fits across. Make sense? Kinda wish the inside had a pattern or something, the beige is kind of boring in my opinion.

That Lancôme Glow

Well, that Canada Day and Independence Day long weekend is now over, the sun is blaring hot here in California, now it’s time to officially start summer. Let’s get glowin’!

Lancome-HeaderIt’s not often I grab a highlighting product and dab or dust it onto my cheekbones for an additional glow. I prefer to keep my makeup as simple yet still naturally-dewy looking as possible, which is why I love my philosophy hope in a jar moisturizer. I feel like it creates the moisture my skin needs, yet my foundation always look glowy when I applied that first.

But, there’s something about semi-cream cushiony-like highlighters that turned my eye over to focus on them a little more, especially during these warmer months.

Lancome-Glow-SubtilI got a couple of the brand-spankin’ new Lancôme Glow Subtil Silky Creme Highlighters in a huge awesome gift bag that Lancôme gave me when I attended a crazy wonderful one-on-one event with them back in April. So, I’ve been clearly giving them a fair run for the past little while.

Like I said, I’m not a highlighter wearer (that often!) so I cannot compare them to any duplicates you might know of, out there. Because I haven’t tried it. Why haven’t I tried the popular Becca Cosmetics highlighters? Because they’re powder. Simple as that. I do know that they have one that comes in a creamy-pot sort of thing, but I hadn’t reached or looked at highlighters until recently.Glow-Subtil-06-Glowing-Ligh

Applying-Lancome-HighlightBut what I can show-and-tell you is that it has a wonderful creamy yet cool (yes, it feels cool as in cold!!!) consistency that absolutely melts seamlessly into your skin, and doesn’t have any stickiness to it at all. Your skin looks gorgeous, and has this natural radiance to it. Now, that’s what I like. They are buildable so if you want to achieve an intense glow, go for it.

If you haven’t even touched these silky smooth highlighters, I’d advise you to even just go into a store and simply swatch it for yourself. They feel incredible. Which I guess is why I said, I”m gravitating towards them more, even if it is a highlighting product.

Disclaimer: Although I received the product for free, I wasn’t told I had to write a post about it. But I wanted to share the love and show you guys what the product was like, since I hadn’t heard many people talk about it (yet!). There ya have it.

Psst! Don’t forget to enter my giveaway here for a Specialized Women’s cycling jersey!

Calling all female cyclists!

This is going to be a post you want to read. Especially if you’re a female cyclist. C’mon over!

I’ve been cycling pretty consistency since December, and although I have switched my cycling pedals from clipless to clips on one side and flats on the other (I know! Who knew they made these?!), due to a minor fall, I have been biking often! Still a little scary to have that first fall while being clipped in, I gotta say! While for the most part I’m on my own, I still stick to side streets or beach towns on weekdays. Biking in traffic terrifies me, and although my husband being the avid cyclist/Ironman in the family, he tells me so many scary/horrific stories about close-calls or one of his buddies getting into accidents. Or worse.

So. Calling all female cyclists! I guess you’d call me a Blog Ambassador (self-labelled) of sorts, with Specialized bicycles. My husband knows way more about cycling than I ever know (or care to know), if we’re being honest… I just want to ride for fun. I don’t want to be tweakin’ the derailleur or fiddling with the mechanics of it all. But don’t worry, I do know the basics and I always carry a tire kit with me.

I’ve been taking my Vita Comp Carbon bike with me to Santa Cruz mostly, sometimes to the town of Capitola, and zippin’ around San Jose a little bit too. I’m all decked out in Specialized gear when I go and I now have scored a second sweet new jersey to be wearing while I’m out there exploring good ol’ California sunshine.
