Drybar Products: What I like, and what I didn’t.

Drybar-productsOkay, so I’ve been a bit delayed on writing these posts regarding a few Drybar products that were sent to me. Obviously it takes a while to use the product (I prefer to be at least halfway done a bottle of styling products, shampoo, etc, before I give my recommendations, or not). So here I am, taking photos of a few products that I received multiple months ago. I wanted to give them a fair trial, because honestly, some of the products I didn’t like from the get-go and I wanted to see if that would change. See? Not everything is rosey and have rave reviews. I will tell you how it is. Let’s get to the stuff I’m not pleased with first, to end it all on a good note, shall we?

Texas-Tea-ShampooDrybar Texas Tea Volumizing Shampoo ($30 CDN/ $24 USD) If there is anyone that needs volume in her hair, it’s me. 100% me. I was really excited to try this out, and I ended up really not liking it. I’m using it up, as you can see – it’s been the only shampoo in our shower for months, just so I can get the full effect. It does nothing for my hair, and definitely doesn’t volumize it. I’ve had a lot better drugstore shampoos lather in my hair and create more volume than this. Unfortunately I do not recommend you buy it.

Texas-Tea-CondiDrybar Texas Tea Volumizing Conditioner ($30 CDN/ $24 USD) I’m not sure why this is still in the shower because I tend to use a leave-in conditioner after my shower. As soon as I put this in my hair, no matter how long I let it sit in my hair, when I was it out it feels like I simply conditioned with water. Absolutely no moisture properties or “conditioner feels” in my hair. I’m using it up, because I do not like to waste. But man, I’m not fond of this at all. Dang!

Drybar-volume-mousseDrybar Southern Belle Volumizing Mousse ($25 CDN/ $26 USD) Okay, I think I’m on my 2nd or 3rd can of mousse. It lasts forever (I’m talking 3-5 months for me) since I do not wash my hair on an everyday basis, nor do I apply this in my hair every time I wash it. I love it. It’s a mousse, and it does what it’s supposed to. I will keep buying this product (it was sent to me once, and I bought it twice with my own money).

Drybar-Detox-ShampooDrybar Detox Dry Shampoo ($29 CDN/ $23 USD)  I picked a can of this as soon as I moved to California. I had been using it for about a year before I started working with DryBar, and obviously if I bought it before I worked with them, I’m a fan. Plus, their cute packaging helps. I really do love it. However, I do not wait until my hair is greasy or on second day before applying it all over my hair. I haven’t tried their Dry Shampoo for brunettes, but I heard it was really dark coming out of the can.

Drybar-Detox-conditDrybar Detox Dry Conditioner ($23 USD. I don’t think it’s available in Canada yet) The newest product of them all as I received it about a month or so ago. I’m still on the fence about this, because while I do love it – I have done without it for so long that I’m not sure if I would re-buy, or if I’m in love with it. It gives a lot of moisture back into my ends, fluffs them up, smells great, but I have some mixed feelings about it and I’m not sure why.

Drybar-Leave-InDrybar Mr. Incredible The Ultimate Leave-In Conditioner ($32.50 CDN/ $26 USD) Okay. Holy grail right here. I use this every.single.time I get out of the shower. It’s an aerosol spray which I use completely saturate the ends of my hair. It feels amazing and helps my hair retain moisture. Plus I love how long it’s lasting me! Like I mentioned, I don’t wash my hair everyday (I wash it every 3-4 days), so it’s lasting me a long time and the bottle itself is huge!

I think it’s only fair to say that these are obviously my own opinions and perhaps you guys do love the products that I’m not a fan of, and vice versa! Some products were sent for review as I stated above, but I’ve repurchased my favourite products over-and-over.

Have you used Drybar products before? Thoughts?

DIOR DIORSHOW MONO EYESHADOW in 4 colours!

Dior-Mono-Header

Dior-Mono-purpleI’m not sure I’ve ever seen a dior mono eyeshadow before (not to be mistaken with the Dior Fusion Mono shadows that are like a velvety mousse texture, almost like a cream but they are a powder in a circle-shaped glass jar).

While a lot of people aren’t a huge fan of the brushes that come with these compacts, I always seem to reach for them. I suppose it’s all due to the fact my eyeshadow brush selection isn’t the greatest, so I tend to gravitate towards the spongey ones in the compacts. The Dior Mono eyeshadows each come with one, but on one side it’s a sponge, the other a mini brush (which I’ve yet to use the brush side).

Another fun Father’s Day Gift

The reviewer has been compensated in the form of a Best Buy Gift Card and/or received the product/service at a reduced price or for free

Samsung Mobile Gear VROkay. I know. You might be asking yourself — what the heck is this contraption? Let me tell you a story before I get into why this is such a fun Father’s Day Gift.

Over Christmas break when I was back home in Newfoundland (Canada), we had a virtual reality set to play with, and it was absolutely unreal. Technology has definitely come a long way, and I am loving it. Comments from family and friends were mentioned that people who could possibly no longer travel for unforeseen circumstances could invest in one

Imagine how much fun this would be with all of the apps and places you could see. I looked through something similar over Chrtistmas, and it was a rollercoaster ride. It LITERALLY felt like you were on a coaster. Many people we showed it to, giggled uncontrollably and had to sit down before they fell over trying not to “fall off the rollercoaster”. It was hilarious! So much fun.

Samsung Mobile JuneIt’s so easy to use. You slide the Samsung phone into the Gear VR set and select the app and play with it. It’s fun.

I suppose it’s just hard to described unless you’re wearing it and experiencing it for yourself. But it was loads of fun and I definitely didn’t tire from it. I’m going to guess that this is going to be the next big thing with gamers, let alone just for fun at parties. It was really truly exciting and although you might think it would just be for gamers and whatnot. It’s not! We even had a tour of places in EUROPE. It was like you were there on a tour yourself. I mean, that’ll save you a ton of airfare + hotel costs, hah!

Best Buy is currently having a Samsung phone + Gear VR bundle for Father’s Day. So if it’s something your ol’ Daddio would enjoy, I’d definitely suggest! I mean – I know first hand how fun it was.

Mobile virtual reality has finally arrived. Be at the center of exciting games, watch the best of Hollywood in your own private cinema, socialize with friends, and so much more. The Samsung Gear VR drops you right in the action — and it’s only from Samsung and Oculus.

Free Samsung Gear VR, plus $50 of Virtual Reality content with purchase, or lease, and activation of select Samsung Smartphones. Offer is good from June 5 til June 18 online or in Best Buy stores.
