Applied too much foundation?

Don’t panic! There are ways to fix it without removing all your makeup and starting over, and not waste what you’ve already applied.

Dab a tissue over the areas you applied too much foundation. Don’t rub, just dab! Rubbing will obviously remove much more than you’d like and ruin the makeup application.
Next, get a sponge whether it be a BeautyBlender or one from a compact that you don’t use. Wet it, and dab off into a towel – this will ensure there isn’t too much water in the sponge. This is when you can blend the areas where you removed the extra foundation. Generally, a sponge is one way to soften and blend cakey foundation, as it’ll absorb the product and even out the foundation.

Often when I’m in a hurry I apply too much foundation to my face and use this quick-fix technique for years, but only thought about blogging about it! Let me know if this works for you next time you apply too much foundation!

Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Colour Splash Lipsticks

Along the way of my blogging journey, I’ve accumulated a few PR contacts — maybe I should do a blog post on that, on how I request products for review? Sometimes I do trades for e-mails. Like Tarte’s for instance, so I want to thank my pal Chelle for giving me the contact for this one!

Adorable packaging, great quality and if you didn’t know already — vegan.

Alright, so let’s get this out of the way — these new Tarte lipsticks are marketed as hydrating, but I do notice that the lipsticks have a bit of a matte finish and not a luminous glow to them like I thought they would (due to its name: hydrating). But hey that’s fine, pointing out something obvious here.

Happy to report they’re not uncomfortable. You know how some mattes are? These aren’t. I guess because they’re hydrating and semi-matte at the same time. Jeeze, that sounds confusing. I promise you it’s not. Here, let me show you so you can simply judge for yourself. Pucker your pout, because I’m about to do some swatches!

Tarte Color Splash Hydrating Lipsticks are available in 24 shades. The creamy highly pigmented lipsticks have so much colour payoff, so if you want to stock up, keep in mind they’re $21 each at Sephora. The lipsticks glide on and seriously stay on for hours, no bleeding, and no feathering of the lips, even after eating — love it! The shade collection in these lipsticks are quite versatile with nudes to deep wine tones and everything in between. These dreamy blue marble-like tubes from Tarte are so beautiful you just have to have it.

Bite Beauty Lip Pencils (4 nude shades)

It’s taken me a long time to try the lip pencils by Bite Beauty and I’m certainly glad I did. A Canadian brand, who continues to make their products in their home-base of Toronto Ontario by hand, with food grade ingredients. I have four of the plethora of nude shades that I could pull off and wear easily on their own, or under a gloss or lipstick. These pencils are highly pigmented and a hydrating formula. Finally a lip pencil that doesn’t tug on your lips and be all irritating and drying, who wants that! Sheesh. However, they are matte on the lips, so keep that in mind.

I think I made a good choice from my selection that I requested from PR, because I don’t think there’s one I wouldn’t keep. I do have a favourite shade though, and it’s the one in 008. It’s kind of a peachy nude on me, and I love that shade.

Let’s jump into some swatches!

I found that shade 010 was similar to my natural lip colour, so I’ll keep that in mind if I want to wear something bold yet want to line my lips. I find that the finish of the lip pencils aren’t totally matte, but do have a bit of sheen to it. If you’re a fan of Bite already, you know that they’ve expanded the 22 pink-nude/easy to wear shades recently, with bold fun shades for summer. They have some great saturated colours!

The Lip Pencil – Bite Beauty is $21 at Sephora.
