I guess I’m a purse girl

I didn’t realize until lately how much of a purse person I was until I compiled all of the purses I owned. I’ve decided to do a little history on them and do mini reviews on each of them. Love the backdrop of the photos, these were taken on our balcony, the glass has this sea green tinge to it. Whether it’s aged like old rustic bookcases or it’s meant to be that way, I’m not sure. But I like it.

Nine West Yellow[Purchased in 2007] I remember exactly when I bought this purse. It was my first year living in Ontario and I was having Graphic Design interviews with companies. I didn’t own a car at this point and after my interview I popped into the mall and headed to Winners. I saw this Nine West purse and immediately purchased it. See what was in my purse back in 2008!

Banana Republic clutch [Purchased in 2008] I was shopping on Banana Republic’s website without realizing it was located in the USA. I called the BR store in Toronto asking them to ship it to me. When it came, I didn’t realize how small it was. But now it’s one of my most favored purses/clutches that I own.

Nine West Red [Purchased in 2009] I bought this one at a place similar to Winners called Labels. See what was in my purse back in 2009! I rarely used this one, I felt it was a little too boring for me.

Danier Crossbody [Purchased in 2009] I knew I wanted something I could cart around with me like the Banana Republic clutch shown above, but didn’t want it on my wrist all the time. So a small cross body to store a few cards, cash and a cell phone is perfect for this small bag.

H&M Bucket bag [Purchased in 2011] This was my first purse that I picked up at H&M and was soon to be my carry-all for everything. It’s pretty massive and things get lost in it. I use this on more during the winter now, as I don’t mind if it gets beat up since it was only a $20 purse from H&M, so it’s not real leather ;)

Furry Winners Bag [Purchased in 2011] I bought this on a whim when browsing Winners with my sister-in-law over Christmas Holidays last year. I don’t know what possessed me to buy it. But I did, and I wore it for the entire 2011 winter. It was definitely a statement piece.

Christmas bag [received in 2011] My brother and sister-in-law either gave this one to me for Christmas or my birthday a year-ish ago. I’ve only used it a handful of times, I do like it but forget that I have it.

J Crew Bag Brompton Hobo [Purchased in 2011] Ah, my most expensive splurge on a purse. I picked up this beauty while I was down in California last summer for BlogHer11. It has a zippered compartment on the rear which the sales lady had me sold once she told me it stores the ipad 2 perfectly in the pouch. This was my go-to purse all last summer.

J Crew Bag Baby Brompton [Purchased in 2012] Would you look at that? A mini version of the Brompton shown above. This is made out of suede rather than the leather one I own. I bought this at the J.Crew store in Y0rkdale Mall while shopping this winter. I’ve only used it once, but I need to remember that my dark blue jeans are a no-no when wearing this. Jeans stain suede! :(

Zara purse [Purchased in 2012] Love this as my everyday purse if I don’t care what I’m doing. This purse was purchased in the spring of this year. It’s already falling apart at the straps. I need to go get this fixed. Rather annoying don’t you think?

Fossil Purse [Received in 2012] AH! My new favorite purse! Finally another pop of color to add to my collection of neutrals and browns. I use this purse daily, or if I want to switch it out I use the grey Zara one above. But those are my two purses I use regularly. I’ve blogged about my Fossil, and also showed you what’s inside my purse!

Are you a purse girl? How many bags/purses do you own?

Happy Sweet 16 Philosophy!

If you’re no stranger to my blog than you know I love skin cleansers and I’ve written about how great my two favorite products are. One being Marcelle which I blogged about many many times, and the other which has become a recent favorite within the past year, is the Philosophy brand. I first tried out Philosophy products when I went down to the BlogHer Conference which was held in California back in August 2011. A few of us girls went to the Philosophy booth on a daily basis. At the end of the “trade show” I was known for loving their stuff and just chatting with the girls who were there hosting.

Back a few months ago I ended up reviewing two moisturizers from Philosophy, you can check those out here. Just recently, I was in contact with my PR rep from Philosophy and I love it when I get a chance to try new products from them. A few weeks ago it was Philosophy’s Sweet 16th Birthday/Anniversary and I was sent the The Sweet 16 body wash/shampoo/bubble bath to try out.

Let me tell you something. You have to be a Cinnamon fan to use this body wash. While I’m not the biggest fan of Cinnamon (or even vanilla scented things for that matter), I did use it a couple of times.

I even purchased a loofa to test out the body wash! It lathered up quite nicely in the shower and left my skin …obviously clean. I didn’t use it as a bubble bath nor shampoo.

I got my boyfriend to smell it and his eyes just about rolled back into his head with delight. He’s always buying himself cinnamon buns while I turn my nose up at them. I mean, they taste fine — but they’re not my go-to treat if I was to pick something out on my own.

All in all, I thought it was a good product. I’m not going to say it was fantastically great or anything. Just because I personally wasn’t a fan of the scent itself. I love more fruity scents like mango, lime, peach, pineapple and orange scents.

Not to worry, this product will not go to waste. In fact, I’m carting it home on the airplane with me and taking it to Newfoundland when I go there in a few weeks, and then I’ll give it to my Mom or Sister-In-Law! They both love cinnamon. :)

What body wash do you currently use? Or do you use bar soap like I used to do before receiving this product? haha!

The shellac experience number 2

My co-worker and I went to get our nails done on Friday during our lunch break.

I got my second shellac manicure done. The last time I had these things on my nails was back when I went to California last summer.

Oh mojito memories.

When I first went into the salon with L, I was a bit nervous because I didn’t spot a color that I absolutely adored. I wanted something like I had in the photo shown above. In fact, I was wearing my own nail polish while I was picking out the colors. It’s one of my ALL TIME FAVORITE colors to wear on my nails. A nice neutral white/pink, called Pink Slip by  Sally Hansen. I discovered this color from a receptionist at a hair salon once. I adored the color so much I had to ask what she was wearing on her nails. I went out and bought it the next day.

Did I mention it was my all time favorite color?

Well, when I went into the salon and the woman was trying to find a dupe for what I was already wearing on my nails. To no avail, she then convinced me to get this one color put on my nails. I cannot tell you how picky I am with nail polish colors. But,  of course we were on a limited time frame as it was our lunch hour. She picked out this pearl/opal color and said it looked way better than the nail color I had on previously. Oh, thanks for your opinion lady. P.S I hate this opal color already. (Not really).

It was the same brand of shellac (CND) that was used on my nails. But I’m not the biggest fan of pearl/opal colors. My Aunt wears it on her fingernails and always has. She’s in her late 70’s now and I just associate opal nail polish with….old ladies.

In certain light it looks like nothing on my nails, and other times it looks shiny. See above? Oh that nail polish! Such tricksters.

Then when I went to pay, she kept holding my hand and looking at my nails saying her color looked better than my all time favorite color that I had on when I walked in.

I’m sure the shellac will last a really long time and it is…kinda pretty. My co-worker gets hers done there regularly and it still looks perfect after 16 days of wear and tear. I also know that I could also request that she bring in that exact milky pink CND polish I had done last summer. I just wanted to tell a little story today, and maybe rant a little. hee hee! :)
