OOTWW

I forgot to mention I was over on Happy Fit Mama’s site yesterday doing a guest post talking about my favorite summer foods. Check it out if you’ve got the chance.

Love that today is already Friday and pay day. Bonus. Since we had a civic holiday in Ontario on Monday, the week just flew on by. Newfoundland did not get the holiday though, but did get Wednesday off due to the annual Regatta.

Just want to say how GLAD I am that summer decided to make a reappearance. This may sound weird, but I love being overheated. I wear a company hoody over top of my regular work clothes almost every day. I just love being cozy and warm, so finally seeing the sun out the past two days is definitely making me happier. Thanks Ma-Nature!

To take advantage of the gorgeous sun that was out yesterday, my co-worker and I went to a Portuguese bakery & deli. A different co-worker asked where we went for lunch, and this was my answer:

“I ate at the best place today! Lesbian for lunch”. Not even close: Lisboa Bakery and Deli
Uh. Totally came out wrong. I forgot the name of the place and that is what I blurted out. HAHAHA. Then that was the running joke of the entire afternoon.

My lunch was just a plain chicken sandwich but the garlic mayo and fresh bun definitely left me wanting more. It was a decent price too.Lunch

I also got a sparkling passion fruit drink with my meal. It tasted kinda weird, but I liked it.lunch2
For dessert we went across the street for Marble Slab Creamery ice cream. I’ve never been there before. It’s neat that they scoop your ice cream and add any toppings you want and it gets mashed together on this ….frozen marble slab. I got Rocky Road. It was way too expensive for what its worth. I’ll stick to Menchies, or this one gelato place near my house.dessert
I’m not the biggest fan of Winter (least fav season) but I do love Fall. I don’t ever want to rush away the seasons, or months. I want to enjoy living in the moment and not look too forward into the future. Know what I’m getting at? Let’s enjoy what we’ve got, right here, right now.

This post is all over the place but I wanted to share the blog-love today with some new (to me) blogs and some good posts I found this week.

Hilarious new (can I say she’s new if her babe is 7+ mths old? lol) Mom who is a plant based eater and has some great recipes to share.

Michelle & Lori @ Purely Twins
These ladies made gluten free & egg free COCOA PUFFS CEREAL! Recipe is in the link above. Omg.

Onto the outfits I wore this week to work!ootww

What are your plans this weekend?
I’m overdue for a visit to the Farmer’s Market and need to purchase some fresh produce this weekend, so that’s what I’ll be doing in the morning.

Do you purchase your produce from a Farmer’s Market?

Have you ever had Portuguese food?

Is tracking what you eat necessary?

You hear it all the time — track what you eat, especially if you’re going on a ‘diet’ or just want to change your eating habits.

supperI’ve been keeping a food log since I started the 30 day Paleo challenge (which was from April 7 — May 7, 2013), and it has helped me immensely with being in touch with my eating habits and cutting out all the sugar. Because quite frankly I cannot rely on youth to keep me fit anymore. Daily exercise and a healthy living lifestyle is key to a healthy life. Instead of uploading it all on my blog though, I upload to instagram.

Maybe you don’t have time to track every trivial detail of what you eat every single day. Sure, I find it annoying and I get questioned about why I’m photographing my food —  but right now it works for me. I’m still not on autopilot on grabbing the most healthiest option available, but I’m getting there. I allow myself treats whenever I want them, however I limit them. Rather than having them once or twice a day I have them once or twice a week. thrive juice bar lunch

Have to be honest though. I have a tendency to focus on the negative. Especially after being SO successful on Paleo and losing 9lbs and 7+ inches on my waist/bum. Since May 7 when the Paleo challenge ended, I have been more aware of my eating and while I was keeping track I wasn’t 100% paleo. More like 100% faileo.

I’ve been enjoying summer and that’s all that counts. Right here, right now. Helloooo homemade Sangria!sangria

I know that Paleo is not for me. As I’ve stated before, any time I’m eating a days worth (or more) of paleo, I get a leaky gut. I don’t think Paleo is a safe option for my body to take on, for life. My body is missing something. Right now I’m eliminating most processed foods and eating clean my way. I’m doing this to better myself. I need to steer clear of fad diets (not saying Paleo is a fad, but who knows…) because one minute it’s healthy for you, the next it’s bad. I have been incorporating carbs, but still no dairy. I’m still not seeing the results I saw on Paleo though, which is tough.

Since I snap photos of everything I eat right down to the meals, snacks and drinks every day it’s helping me visually work on my goals. snack

Have you ever tracked what you ate? Is it working/Has it worked for you?

How do you keep track? (Photos, writing it down online, or a pen + paper combo?)

My CrossFit Journal Year 2 Week 22

I went to CrossFit four times last week. That’s a lot for someone who hasn’t attended regularly since May. I definitely felt it. Friday’s workout was probably the most hard on me due to it being more strength than endurance. I looked at the back of my hands at one point and the sweat was just pooling up on them. The middle of my back I felt drips of sweat sliding down wanting to inch down into my butt crack. It was uncomfortable as you can only imagine.

Oh! How did I almost forget to mention. I hit a PR this week on front squats! Finally broke 100lbs!!

200m run
15 thrusters
200m run
9 over bar burpees

One of the coaches said everyone finished this WOD. So I thought I’d finish it too. But I’m pretty sure everyone didn’t wait the 3 minute rest-time more like had a 2 min rest. Whatevs. So. I didn’t finish lol. I was on my last 200m run and had to do 9 more over bar burpees.

year 2, week 22, day 4

crossfit wod 4th day

This workout posted above was the mental one I was talking about. I don’t know if I’m just really weak with front squats but I had to bump down to 55lbs after the first few rounds because holy crapballs I was finding it impossible to get out 10 in a row. More like 3 and slam the weight down lol….That or the fact I had a tough workout week. Let’s say that ;)
