Fun fitness gear

Throwback Thursday or #TBT as the hashtags all circulate around instagram today.

On my lunch break on Tuesday, I headed to the mall and stopped into one of my favorite stores: H&M. I don’t know how often they get stock, but they seem to have an abundance of it very frequently. Thus, me never tiring of visiting the store, and browsing. I picked up this orange hoody on a whim and tried it on. Wednesday morning I wore it to work since I had a silky also from H&M “mullet-like” blouse which I snagged for $4.95 the previous weekend. I wore the hoody to keep warm on my drive to work and as soon as I put it on on, I realized I looked a lot like a photo that was taken when I was a toddler, with my Mom.then-vs-now

Hence the ‘Then vs Now‘ throwback post today. I got a good chuckle out of it, and e-mailed the picture to my Mommy. Heh. My style hasn’t changed since I was a kid, so it seems.

lululemon-swiftly-tech-tankOn the other hand I received a shipment from Lululemon, yesterday. Big spender over here buying two new tanks for CrossFit! In fact, I wore the purple one last night.

So many exciting clothes to wear to CrossFit and working out. This week has been a bonanza of products.#WhatsBeautiful Campaign

SportChek sent along a nice thick Under Armour Studio Lux Jacket for me to wear while I get my sweat on, or just wear walking Alfie around in the park during the nights as it cools down a bit. However, the nights are getting pretty sweltering around here and I can’t even sleep with the duvet on top of me. It’s just that warm. So I’ll be using the zip up for the cooler days. Nice huh?

Time to get a killer workout in, with that jacket.
Under Armour

Under Armour sent along a surprise parcel, thanks to the #WhatsBeautiful campaign and sponsorship with me being a FitFluential Ambassador. It absolutely blew my mind me when I opened it. Gratitude is the attitude!

Check back tomorrow for another blog post about the #WhatsBeautiful Campaign. I’m excited to share more info with you, along with my favorite Under Armour women.ua-iwill

See ya tomorrow, friends!

Canada Day Long weekend + a giveaway!

This has got to be one of the top ranked weekends in 2012 thus far. For one, it was incredibly relaxing and two I got to spend it all with my Boyfriend. Now, you’d think I’d always spend weekends with my Boyf. But I don’t. Many of you already know this about him but he’s an Ironman Triathlete and is always on the go, training on his bike, going for long swims and pounding the pavement going for long runs.

I managed to go for a run during the early morning on Canada Day and ended up doing more km’s than I ever have in two years. I think it’s due to the fact that I didn’t know where I was going, and I could keep going and wasn’t thinking about how fast I could/should be going. I ran 7.5km’s in total.

I came back pretty sweaty.

I didn’t run it as fast as I usually like to go, but that wasn’t the point of this run. It was just to get out there and go.Our dog Alfie was looking pretty antsy on Canada Day and the Boyf and I then decided to venture out on a walk with him.

We ended up going for 90 minutes in total. So long but so relaxing!

I even found a set of swing stets and started squealing with excitement and going high in the air. Then Scott reminded me it wasn’t all that high and started poking fun at me ;) It sure felt high ….

Of course Canada Day wouldn’t be complete without Fireworks and some treats! We also heard some hoodlums setting them off at 3:00am that night as well. It woke us up and we were pretty angry about it to be honest, ha..Seeing as we had intended on waking up early to drive to Grand Bend beach!!! YEAHH.

We arrived super early in the morning and reserved some prime real estate on the beach. The boyf and I stayed there til mid-afternoon, cooking in the sun, then cooling off with a quick dip in Lake Huron. It was the perfect day anyone could ask for on a beach. It wasn’t too hot when you were laying down but you did get hot, and ended up quickly cooling off in the water. A light breeze, not windy at all.I’m kind of glad I didn’t bring my iPad or kindle to the beach that day because my Blackberry had to be put away for fear of covering it in sand. Danger bay!

We even brought along some popcorn supplied by Orville Redenbacher, sandwiches, water and apples to chaw on while we were there.

We were done for the day and decided to venture on back to our homeland. It wasn’t long after this photo was taken that I took a big chunk out of my middle finger. I accidentally rolled up the window with one hand while my fingers were still at the top on the other hand. Blood. Everywhere. I silently cried, and I felt like such a little girl with tears streaming down my face while Scott pulled over the car and bandaged me right up. It wasn’t deep enough for stitches, and I think it was just the initial shock and pain that threw me over the edge. I’ll spare you the details and any photos. But I’m all good now, with a nice band-aid over top for a few days :)

Back to the grind tomorrow. Back to reality.

Lululemon quality: sub par

Late last month I made an online purchase on Lululemon’s website. I picked up the Swiftly Racerback tank in the color blush pink. I can’t stay away from the nice designs and colors they come out with. But I’m reassured when I get a quality issue error on one of my new items that I just opened. I now remember why I stopped shopping there.

I mean sure the photo doesn’t make it seem like a huge deal. If I chop off that thread, there will be a hole where there shouldn’t be a hole. When you spend your hard-earned $48 on a tank top, you’d expect it to be in pretty top-notch condition when it arrives on your door step.

This has happened to a few items of my pairs of my Lululemon capri’s after wearing them once the inseams came undone on them. What the heck is going on with you Lululemon? Bring back the “Made In Canada” and stop sending everything overseas.

I e-mailed the GEC at lululemon, as I have already saved their e-mail address in Gmail. I also brought it to twitter, of course. Got some responses like the swiftly line has no room for error. Which I agree. It could snag easily if you’re not careful. I know that, due to the fact I already own two swiftly tech tee’s and they’re in perfectly good condition, especially at two years old.

Lululemon heard me on Twitter (@spiffykerms) and gave me the telephone number to GEC in Vancouver. I called and told them that I e-mailed GEC earlier and she brought up the photos. Without hesitation she said she was going to send me a sticker so that I can mail the parcel back to Lululemon without me paying anything out of pocket. Free returns for damaged items, good on them I say!

Here is the parcel, all ready to be mailed off! My hand is covering the tracking number and my return address.

Unfortunately, just days after I placed the order the Swiftly Tech racerbacks are no longer online. So I can’t get another one of them, and there isn’t a Lululemon store around here that sells the racerbacks. We have a personal training area that sells Lululemon but not the Swiftly tanks. Bummer.

I guess I’ll be shopping at Costco more often now for workout gear. Check out my Lululemon Vs. Costco workout apparel blog post I did back in March.
