Wunder Unders, Blogger Meetups and Jamba Juice

I feel so lucky that we have a gym in our complex. The Guy and I take advantage of it and go together when he gets off work.

30-Min-Treadmill-WorkoutI completed this thirty minute treadmill workout that was tough towards the end. I actually had to stop at 29:30 because I couldn’t keep my breathing up. It was a toughy! It’ll take you to about 2.5 miles after you’re finished. Which isn’t so bad considering the 10 minutes of it you’re just walking at 4.0.

CrossFit Waterloo tee, MPG leggings, Mizuno sneakersAfter last night’s treadmill workout, I woke up at the crack of dawn in the best kind of a mood. Who am I? Why was I awake so early? I decided to listen to my body and just get up out of bed, have some breakfast and then put on some comfy clothes before heading out the door to drive to beautiful Santana Row to run some errands. Definitely missing my old CrossFit Waterloo gym, so I decided to represent them today around town.

Santana-RowIsn’t it beautiful?

AnthropologieI’m really trying to find some nice olive green towels for our bathrooms, but they’ve proven to be difficult to find in a shade that I want. So I got fed up and went into Anthropologie. Even though I love going to Anthropologie and it’s one of my favourite stores, I’m starting to realize that World Market has a lot of similar items that Anthro has, but without the jacked up prices. I’m excited about this, because I can scope things out I like at Anthro and get them for cheaper. Both places have really cute towels, and great smelling hand creams.

lululemon wunder undersI headed over to Lululemon to see if they had any of the Wunder Unders in stock since they were all out of my size online. Luckily, Santana Row’s Lululemon had them in stock. I bought them as a very early birthday gift to myself. My birthday is in May. Ohhh well.

Yoga at LululemonThat’s also where I found out that they offer complimentary yoga, and running groups — not only that they are having a CrossFit elements class on Sunday morning if anyone is interested in attending, just phone the store.

Jamba-Juice-Chocolate-MoodShortly after I met up with Jessica and we grabbed a Jamba Juice together while browsing around. I said it before and I’ll say it again, Chocolate Moo’d tastes exactly like a Wendy’s Frosty. So good. I’m excited for this evening though, because both of us are going to a blogger-meet up in another city. Hopefully I’ll meet some new people that way too.

Balance BarThen on the drive home I dug into one of my many delicious Balance Bars. S’mores is the only way to go.

What’s your flavour at Jamba Juice?

Have you ever gone to a blogger meet up?

His fanciest running shoes

Every second night or so, The Guy and I have been hitting up the gym in the building next to our town house. Unfortunately for me we usually go at 10pm. I’m droopy eyed and slurring my wods at that hour, let alone get ready to run a 5k on a treadmill. But I do it, and then I’m all pumped up full of energy for hours on end. I can’t win ;) I mean, I could go to the gym during the day time when he’s at work. But what fun is that?

The both of us were sent a pair of Mizuno’s each to try out. I am months and months behind on blogging about this, due to the move and all. I’ve asked The Guy, the 5x Ironman Triathlete to write a guest post on what he thinks of the new Prophecy’s, so stay tuned for that in the near future. I received my wave rider’s in October and was wore them to CrossFit a bunch of times when I wasn’t lifting weights (too cushiony for that). The Guy received them in January which was a great time to receive them, since the fall time is his “off season” and he takes a month or so break from all of the races he’s been doing. December/January is usually the time when he starts putting in big miles again but moving to California put things on the back burner for a bit.

Now we can be twinsies. Except he’s been rotating wearing the Mizuno Prophecy’s, a pair of Saucony something’s (they’re all blue) and some New Balance’s. I swear that guy has way more shoes than I will ever have. Where as I’ve been wearing these or my 3 year old nike’s at the gym. Mizuno Wave Rider, Mizuno Prophecy

Why I work out

I just don’t think about it. I just do it. When I sign up for my classes at CrossFit I have to immediately drive home after work, put on my workout clothes and head out the door quickly to make the class in time. There’s no sitting around and deciding whether or not I’m in the mood to go.

I posted last week-ish that I took some time off working out and it took a toll on my physical and mental health. I felt like a slob, and I was very whiney. Not a good combo. However, when my body needs the break, I take it. That means that some times I go to Crossfit 5x a week, and sometimes 2-3x a week. It all depends on how I’m feeling, and of course if the workouts don’t suck.

Last week’s workouts were pretty fun. All the workouts were right up my alley and I didn’t feel too weak. While I’m mediocre at CrossFit, I still really enjoy the workouts and always keep coming back. One of my coaches high five’d me because I think we both thought I’d never come back. Lol! September – November I was there maybe 6 or 7 times, and the weeks were just passing by. I wasn’t doing anything active.

“Now if you are going to win any battle you have to do one thing. You have to make the mind run the body. Never let the body tell the mind what to do. The body will always give up. It is always tired in the morning, noon and night. But the body is never tired if the mind is not tired.” – George S. Patton, U.S. Army General and 1912 Olympian

Never let your body tell the mind what to do.

People have commented that I’m a fairly active person and very motivated.

To put things in perspective for you. I do this because it’s been routine for me for the past number of years. I don’t think of working out to be a chore. I don’t work out to become a beast, even though I feel like one at CrossFit sometimes. I workout to maintain, and to be able to eat sweet treats a little more than once in a while.

We don’t have cable TV (ever since CBC decided that we can’t just plug in a TV and get 2 channels any more, I haven’t watched TV unless I’m home in Newfoundland which is a 3 hour airplane ride away).

So I basically don’t have a choice to just not work out. What else would I do with my time, right? Think about it. My Boyfriend and I of 8 years don’t have any kids. We don’t own a house. Being in a 800sq/ft apartment is easy to maintain, and keep clean. I suppose I could just come home and clean every night and make supper and then hang out on the couch all night but where would that get me?

I also work out so I can eat goodies like that.

One of my awesome readers, Aline (hi!!!) suggested I talk about some of my workout gear because I only seem to post photos of what I’m wearing and not discuss them. Didn’t know that interested people so I’ll remember to start.

I’m sorry I don’t have another new photo of my workout clothes. I don’t take a ton of selfies when I’m running out the door to drive 15 minutes to CrossFit. But for the most part I wear the same things because I’ve been loving the way they fit and keep me warm even though I’m working up a sweat.

Grey long sleeved is a very soft athletic material from Champion. I bought it while in Newfoundland at Costco. Their workout clothes are awesome. I have a white jacket from Costco that I enjoy wearing as a warmup piece. The black leggings are all the same in the photo. They’re quite thick and I received them to review from MPG. I’d like to note that I don’t wear the purple long sleeved at all. The seams were all in weird places and felt uncomfortable. The black zip up is from Sport Chek and it’s by Under Armour. Another thicker material, great for warm ups and getting in cold cars. Finally, the black sneakers on my feet are by Mizuno and they’re the Wave Riders. Technically they’re for running and while I do run, I also wear them to CrossFit too. crossfit-workout-clothes
