OOTWW & Triple F Friday #15

ootww

Clearly looks like I didn’t want to look at the camera this week. Oops? Whatever I like the outcome. As for today’s photo, I was trying to show you a new hair style that I learned off YouTube. The woman doing the tutorial had much longer, thicker hair and it came out pretty retro looking on her. But on me, it’s a completely different outcome, and I still kinda like it, even if it is pretty messy looking lol.

back-of-hairIt’s been a chilly week, but I don’t mind it one bit! It’s a different type of cold up here in Ontario than it is back home in Newfoundland. You immediately warm up as soon as you’re inside on the ‘mainland’. It’s a drier cold that sucks every bit of moisture out of my skin, which causes mild yet annoying eczema on my poor skin. But I don’t mind the weather, so you’re not bound to see me complain about it any time soon.

Hope everyone had a good week. I have a busy weekend ahead of me! I plan on going out to get some veggies tomorrow at a local market with Stephanie. Then head to another city to see my Mom’s Aunt and also her granddaughter (my cousin Vanessa!).

What are your plans?

Onto Triple F Friday:

Community_ChrisStoutenberg_rotatorChris Stoutenburg (@stouty_13 on twitter) was featured in the CrossFit forums last week, an incredible read. “A month after he started CrossFit, Stoutenberg accomplished something doctors told him would never be possible.” . Read the full article.  He can do the Fran WOD in less than 9 minutes. I think my time for Fran was 13+. That’s what I call beast-mode. Love it Chris! He also has a YouTube channel.

ROJRunning-Valentines-Gift-Exchange-2013Julie is doing a Valentine’s Day gift exchange. How fun is that?

My friend, @fivetimemommy needs to change her username to six time mommy! Go ahead and congratulate her on her 6th pregnancy!

Megs pipesIt’s Meg’s 50th High Five Friday! Plus she had some gains (literally) this week, and I want to personally congratulate her on her successes.  Look at those pipes.

Brittany blogs about: You may need more calories than you think.

krystenKrysten is going in for surgery for her robot heart next Friday. She’s a positive one, and I love her for her.

Morgan shares about what she learned about detoxing.

sincerelyjulesHAIRJules is one of those lucky people who looks great wearing any hairstyle/outfit she chooses. Yesterday she blogged about Hair Week.

Tubbs Romp to Stomp

snow shoesThe first and only time I ever snowshoed was in grade six for a school event. That was way back in the day when they used the snow shoes that looked like tennis racquets. I never really had the opportunity to go again, nor have I really thought about it as an outdoor sport during the winter. Whenever I think of winter sports, I think of downhill or cross-country skiing, snowboarding or sliding down a hill.

tubbs-snowshoesBeing the naive person that I am, I thought that snow shoes were still made out of wood, until one time I went to an outdoor adventure store a few years ago asking my boyfriend: what is that?!  Boy, have the snow shoes come a long way!

My cousin Natalie who works at eventSing hooked me up for this wonderful fundraiser in Collingwood which is happening in February, and eventSing promotions inc is supporting Tubbs Romp to Stomp event. Ten years ago, Tubbs Snowshoes created the Romp to Stomp Out Breast Cancer Snowshoe Series®. It’s a 3k snowshoe race, or a 3k/5k snowshoe walk for men, women and kids.

2013-registration-now-openThere’s even some pretty great prices for the top racers, fundraisers and best dressed team. If you’re interested in going, you can sign up on their website. All the links will be at the bottom of the blog post.

I’ve been invited to go along with the boyfriend! We’re going to make the drive up to Collingwood the morning of and do the 5km walk together. I can’t wait to take some photos and blog about it after the fact! I’m super excited to get out there and enjoy the crisp winter’s day in February. So much to look forward to this winter.

Stay active my friends!

2012 Year In Review!

Happy New Year everyone!

The boyf and I got back from Newfoundland this morning, on a 5am flight. Needless to say, there wasn’t much NYE festivities happening around our parts! In fact, I went to bed in Newfoundland at around 11pm so I could get a bit of shut eye. Man. I’m getting old. At least I took tomorrow off as another vacation day, so I can catch up on a few things before heading back to work on Thursday.

Last year I did a 2011 year in review, and I thought I’d keep the tradition going this year. I blogged at least 24 times a month during 2012. 42 being the most in one month!

January

1slidingI had an unforgettable time in Newfoundland during Christmas last year. Sliding with just a sprinkle of snow? No problem! Ancy Nancy got it covered. :)

white-batwingI blogged about my eBay finds. I’ll be doing this again soon, since I shop eBay all year round. I stopped posting my reviews about my items mid-year because I was starting to grab some things for Christmas presents. Since I fly home a lot, I bring whatever I have purchased throughout the year so my suitcase in December isn’t over burdened.

kind-food-blatVegan treats and sleeping at IKEA. What!?

shawney in my lapI spent Easter up in Barrie with relatives I haven’t seen in 15 years. I also got lost on the way and ended up on a Military Base.

December
I completed the 50 day push up challenge!

nephewsWent to Newfoundland for Christmas (and got back today). Said my GoodBye’s to my little nephews yesterday… :(

pack-your-suitcaseFor Christmas I gave my Boyfriend a trip to Quebec City. We’re going in February!

samsung-nx10The boyf also got me a pretty unexpected gift. A way better camera than my point-and-shoot canon! I’m so excited to learn more about this one!

walletGot my parents a pretty well-deserving, special gift — with huge thanks to my neighbours organizing it with me, a trip to Florida with tons of spending money. Eee! My parents both cried. I never see them cry, so it was touching to see them so happy, opening the gifts. I was the one who gave the money, and my neighbour planned the flights and accommodations. I had to think of a clever way to give them the dolla bills instead of just saying “here’s some cash for you to spend”. So I went out and got a wallet for my Mom(from eBay actually) and filled it up with American $50 bills. Put it in a box and voila. But for my Dad to open something too, I taped a bunch of bills together and stuffed them into an old tissue box and had one $50 poking through; so when he pulled it — all the others kept coming out too. Like a never ending pot of gold.
