Our little man has some manners. He’s so gentle when he accepts treats, or bones from us and always does tricks to try and butter us up to get another one.

Roll over. Down. Dance. Sit. Paw. Come. Around (circle around my legs). Get in (sit by my side). Over! (to jump over something) Stay. Wait. Ok (means he can leave)

Those are a few of his tricks. But the best part is he’s just as laid back as the rest of us, in the comfort of his own home. Get him outside with our neighbour’s pup, Penelope and he’ll viscously go after her, barking uncontrollably for around 2 minutes. Then they go about their ways, and walk side by side completely ignoring one another.

Have you seen this Instagram video of him in the galvanized tub (aka the beer tub?) He wouldn’t get out of it! So I took him for a wheely around the apartment, hah!

Enjoy the few photos I took of him late last week (since I still am in Yosemite!).

I like to give Alfie a haircut approximately every 4-6 weeks. He hasn’t had one since before Christmas, so he was overdue. I like to suck up to him, giving him tons of belly rubs so he’s in a good mood before we head out on the patio and start trimming away. He’s a patient dog when it comes to his hair however, it’s not the hair cut parts he is afraid of, it’s the nail trimming that comes immediately after. I don’t blame him, poor fella. Sometimes I nick his cuticles and make him bleed. It’s hard to tell where his quick ends with his dark nails. Luckily his yearly vet appointment is coming up, so I will ask them to trim his nails next time we head in.

Lucky for him he knows if he behaves he gets a really good treat once I’m done with him. For now, enjoy the many faces of Alfie as I break out the scissors to give him a trimmin’. Alfie-Smiling

Alfie is pretty good at sounding cute when he begs, therefore seems to always usually get what he wants.

We never feed him table scraps, so luckily he doesn’t beg for those. Remember the pizzle/bully stick I bought him? It’s almost gone. Usually we rotate his treats, or take them away if we feel like he’s had enough time with it. Those bully sticks are expensive man! Between $4-$6 a pop. If we let him, he’d chew on that thing for a good hour. It’s a great distraction for him when I need to do chores. But sometimes he begs for those things himself.

Here he is, whimpering on the edge of the couch, knowing darn well where we place his bones. Notice his serious face in the first few photos, haha.Alfies-serious-face
