1 Sephora purchase: Drunk Elephant D-Bronzi

Drunk Elephant’s D-Bronzi was the only thing on my buy-list when the recent Sephora sale happened at the end of April. I’m at the bottom of the ladder when it comes to their point system, so I got 10% off my total purchase. Which was fine, because I wanted to have my freebie birthday gift mailed to me, since all stores are still closed (presumably) due to COVID.

It’s no surprise I love to self-tan and I’ve been doing so since 2011. I am pretty regular about it, minus a few months during the winter months. I like the way my skin looks when it has a sunkissed look to it.

Before purchasing anything, I always go ham and read every review under the sun about it. I was a bit hesitant at first when I heard someone recommend it, because although I’ve only tried one thing from Drunk Elephant in the past (last year’s Sephora birthday gift) it gave me a weird reaction and I haven’t used it since. So I was wondering what this D-Bronzi stuff was like, and why it received such high reviews on Sephora’s site: 4.5 out of 5!

Well folks, those reviews came through. I bought it, and it’s a game changer after only one use. I had already done my self-tan routine for my 40th birthday, but the tanner never seems to stick on my lower legs the last couple of years. Weird hey? My legs are just immune to the DHA now or what? Who knows. Either way, I applied my SPF50 sunscreen all over my legs, added a generous 5-6 pumps to each of my legs mixed with the sunscreen and holy boom did it ever look good. And you know what? It dried down to feel like my regular skin. No sticky feeling, no tacky, and it didn’t rub off on my clothes or fingers when I tried to see if it would lift. It also gave an unreal glow, making the legs look gooooooood. This is in the mid-day sun without a filter.

Look how dark it is! Keep in mind I do have self-tanner on my legs. I’m that dark because I have some self-tanner on my legs, with the Drunk Elephant D Bronzi layered over top for an extra amount of colour and glow.

Here’s a more subtle everyday approach, and what I’ll probably be doing the majority of the time. Applying a single pump to my facial moisturizer to give my skin an even glowy-sunkissed look.

BEFORE. All I have on in the before photo is eyebrow pencil, concealer, and I curled my eyelashes.

How much product I’m using.

Spreading it all around.

Directly after application. Still a little dewy but it does dry down.

Thoughts?? Have you tried it before?

Bronzed To The Bone (The Healthy Way!)

Bronzed-to-BoneI can’t help but want to have a bit of a warm glow to my skin, nearly year round. I tend to self-tan pretty regularly come the warmer months, and on top of that I want my skin to look healthy and sun-kissed.

Although, drinking water and eating your veggies are a no brainer to healthy skin — I still wanted to show you a Bronzed To The Bone type of look with some new limited edition summer products recently launched by bareMinerals, called Lovescape. I’ve been playing around with and enjoying them for the past few weeks so I thought I’d share a favourite look I’ve been wearing.

Please let me know if you’d rather this type of post, or a more detailed style (like this one)! Just trying something new here on the ol’ blog :)BronzedToBone-side

Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette

Sweet-Peach-headerSummer is creepin’ up on us and I can only imagine being bronzed to the bone, with the help of the new Too Faced Sweet Peach palette. It will help create a stunning warm yet natural bronzed look to your skin. I’m so excited to use this!

Sweet-Peach-PaletteIt’s no surprise that the new Too Faced Sweet Peach palette sold out immediately. Beauty blogger friends in both the USA and Canada have and are having a tough time getting it in their hands.

TooFacedSweetPeach-PaletteNow this palette has my attention with the orangey warm shades, since it will bring out the bright blue eyes (ahem, basically made for me!). I think it’d look extra lovely on brown eyes as well. Too Faced are always so innovative with their cutesy packaging and scented products. It’s like scratch and sniff stickers, but in eyeshadow palettes for makeup lovers. Realistically, it’s such a novelty product, because what on earth is the point of having a scented eyeshadow? There’s no point, but it’s all in good fun, really. And I think it’s something completely different that the brand is doing — it’s making them stand out. Not only because of the scent, but because of the beautiful tones in all the palettes they create, along with the soft and cream texture. Not to mention the insane pigmentation of it!

Too Faced had come out with chocolate scented bronzers and eyeshadow palettes in the past, and their second newest edition being the peanut butter and jelly. But if you know anything about me at all, those two scents just don’t jive with  me. Finally, something fresh is out for the fruit and citrus loves.

Sweet-Peach-openHey, what’s up hello beautiful beautiful peachy palette.

Sweet-Peach-allOh hello gorgeous warm shades.

Getting into the finer details, the tin is in a playful pink/orange ombre tin packaging with 18 colours to create the look you want.love-sweet-peach

The palette has a mix of peaches, warm pinks, corals, champagne, and bronzed tones with a few other colours,  (Bless Her Heart is a gorgeous olive green) along with some purples and deeper colours to create a more dramatic eye look. All of these colours from this palette are versatile and easy to wear, and there isn’t a ton of overly shimmer in the shadows. For someone that doesn’t have a huge collection of eyeshadows, this one is fantastic as it has easy to wear neutral shades that have a bit of warmth to it. I wouldn’t be surprised if I didn’t ever reach for the deeper shades (both purples and the dark brown), since I’m not into wearing anything too dark on my lids.
