I’m a God Mother! Lord help me…

I’m all for not blogging when I don’t have anything to say, hence the lack in posts this week.

I was too much of a wuss to stand outside in the snow this week to take my outfits posts, and too hyper to remember to take them in a full length mirror at the bathrooms at work. I’m sure you all really care. So instead, I’ll be posting random bits about my week. Yay!I put my bra on upside down earlier this week. I thought it was going to be “one of those days” but I still ended up being quite the character this week. Counting down the days until I leave for Newfoundland. We’ll be on an air plane soon enough!I had 3 peppermint white mocha’s from Starbucks this week. #PeppyMoXo‘s get in my belly! Already there folks, already there.starbucks pileupWhen I’m not drinking peppy mo’s I’m drinking tea out of my Santa mug that I picked up pretty much for everyone on my list this year. They’re adorable. Like my “christmas” (more like bridal) nails?santa mug

Earlier this week I went with The Guy to watch him at his master’s swim class. I didn’t realize how boring it would be watching people swim. swimming pool in kdubSo I took selfies, naturally.selfie at the poolI wore my McDonalds oversized tote as a purse. It’s way too big to use as a purse. We whipped out Alfie’s winter coat out of storage, finally. He’s wearing a Canada Pooch jacket (that I reviewed a while ago). He does flips and rolls around in the snow with it on, it’s both adorable and hysterical at the same time.alfie wearing canada poochEarlier on in the week, we gave him his semi annual bath. It was a team effort, despite his little size. He wasn’t squirmy but I would rather have four hands go at him, than just two. I scrubbed him down with some dog shampoo and once I wanted to rinse him, I got The Guy to hold the shower head while I rinsed everything out. Then of course we couldn’t not document his drowned rat look. I forget how tiny the little guy really is. He has SO much fur.alfie-bath pomeranian-bath alfie-in-a-towel

We also went to McDonalds for supper the other night. Mmm. McDonalds happy meal coupon

God help me… or this child. But I’m now a god mother! Amazing right?my god daughter

She’s the daughter of a long time friend of mine. We met in Grade 9. Remember her? She’s the one who was moving back home (to Newfoundland), from South Korea and I met up with her in Toronto of all places between her move.

She had her baby on Wednesday and the little sweetie didn’t wait until I was home so I could visit the trio at the hospital. She was officially due on December 26, but she came a little early. Look at her sweet little chunker cheeks and her little lips. my god daughter

I need to get a photo of me holding my little buddykins when I go home. Cannot wait to see and hold her. Allyson is the first of my friends to have a baby! I saw Allyson again when I flew home for Thanksgiving.allyson nancy heather

One more thing — I don’t have many guest blog posts going up on my blog while I’m away over the Christmas. So I want to wish you now, a very Merry Christmas and I’ll see you in the New Year!!!

p.s. I may pop in from time-to-time while in Newfoundland, but it’s doubtful. Follow me on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram for some real-time updates.

p.p.s: Check out my friends blogs if you want to read some posts over the holidays. I won’t be updating, but they may?!

  • Mrs. Priss – is pregnant with her third child. She was one of my favourite bloggers then disappeared for a bit (parenting perhaps?) now she’s back semi-weekly.
  • Leanne is no stranger on my blog, she’s over at Fresh Season and an amazing friend of mine.

Why Reverse Pyschology Works

Hey guys! I’m back from my amazing wonderful weekend at BlissDom. Can’t wait to recap it all for you tomorrow!

The fiasco of my payless shoes vs Michael Kors pumps didn’t stop last weekend. It kept going. Oh yes, it did.

Leanne spotted my YSL glossy stain on a picture I tweeted out a few days before we met up again to go shopping in Toronto.

She mentioned that she too, wanted to try out the luxurious YSL product. I warned her that the lighter ones weren’t the best and she should stick to a darker out-of-her-comfort zone colour. We popped into the Bloor Street location of Sephora and immediately asked for assistance, since we’re both pretty unsure of what colours would suit her best. The Sephora rep picked out #23 Fuchsia Cubiste. Leanne picked up her colour and then we started browsing around with no intention to buy anything else.

The sephora rep came back to us and told me she needed to put some eye shadow on me and that I was going to love it so much I’d buy it today.

I thought to myself… hmm, you’re sure of that are you, lady? Well I’m not sure I will buy it to be honest because I never wear eye shadow. She told me I had the most beautiful blue eyes and I needed to play them up.

We walked over to one of the aisles and she swirled her magical brush into this baked Terracotta eye shadow by Laura Mercier and went to down on my lids. She asked me to look up and put some more colour down by my lower lashes. It tickeled, so I kept walking backwards and blinking as she was applying it. No biggie.applying eyeshadow

I opened my eyes and gave Leanne a side-eye questionable smirk. The sephora rep jogged over to another section of the store and told me to stay where I was. I needed eye liner. Back she came with a beautiful Estee Lauder liner in bronze.  I looked in the mirror, thanked her and whispered to Leanne that it was way too bold for my liking. But Leanne assured me it was a nice look and added a lil’ somethin’ somethin’ to my face. Okay, I’m comfortable with it, I suppose. smiling in sephora

I hope she sanitized it all. Guess I’ll know in a few days if I have pink eye or not, I said to myself (thankfully nothing went wrong with my eye balls).

I thought we were done at this point. Sephora rep’s don’t work on commission, so she must’ve really taken a liking to us because she wasn’t finished with my face yet. And asked if she could apply some blush/brozer. I think it was by Dior, but I didn’t pay too much attention to it.

I felt her apply the colour onto my cheeks. It took a really long time, I thought. She must just be blending it really well into my skin, I thought. It felt like it was going everywhere from my lips to my ears, and everywhere in-between. What is she doing?

Ta-da! I look at Leanne and she grins. I go look into the mirror and I’m utterly shocked, but not speechless. I felt like the Sephora person was trying to uglyify me (jokes). But she (Sephora rep) nodded, smiled and said; It looks great right?

I honest to God, felt like this woman. (source)

I made a confused face, tilted my head sideways and said. Ehhh. Wow. No. I actually hate it It looks horrible. I really need to take this off.

How does this happen to me? I didn’t suggest I was interested in any of these products nor did I pick up anything and look at it. I did not want to be tempted by Sephora that day. Reverse psychology works on me WAY better than telling me I’ll probably do something. I’ll guarantee I’ll do the opposite only because you think I’ll buy that eye shadow from you. I have the brain of a 13 year old pre-teen who decides to rebel against her parents, with this sephora rep. Missus loved my eyes, it was laughable.

Thankfully most of the blush/bronzer came off my face with a tissue that she rubbed over my face. I have to admit though, all day I felt like I was going on a date-night with the boyf. Except I was day shopping with Leanne.

I definitely didn’t mind the colours she used on me, but I definitely wasn’t used to it. Perhaps one day I’ll go back and try that baked eye shadow :)

We kept walking around Yorkvillle and I spotted a very fancy Lambo in matte purple, right outside the Kate Spade store. I only know this cars make, because I BBM’ed the photo to the Boyf and he wrote back Holy Crap. Lamborghini Gallardo?Lambo in Yorkville

At that point we were starved and decided to grab some grub at Jack Astor’s. sunnies

We then took the subway down to the Eaton Centre and that’s when the shenanigans began at Browns Shoes. leanne and nancy at subwayWhat is your favourite thing to order at a restaurant?

Blogger Meet Up in Toronto

I’ve known some of these girls longer than I have known my boyfriend. That’s over 8 years, you guys! And last weekend was the first time that I’ve met some of them in person — finally!

erica nancy leanneLeanne (to your right) met me at Sephora right after the Make Up For Ever event I went to. We’ve been online friends for so many years that I can’t even remember when we “met”. She too, is originally from Newfoundland and moved to Ottawa a few years ago. Then, a few weeks ago she and her fiancé up and moved to Toronto. Uh, a meet up was certainly required at this point. We then left the Eaton Centre immediately to go snag Erica who was waiting for us at Union station. Also the first time that I met Erica and we’re not even that far away from each other. Oops.

We took the subway to Yorkdale mall where we all did a bit of shopping. Leanne picked up a pretty bracelet from Kate Spade and me? Well let’s just say that I don’t shop in Toronto often and when I do, look out. toronto-buys

Forever 21 had their already cheap jeans on sale for $7.80. I already have a pair of these from a year or two ago that I decided it was time to break the bank and spend another whopping eight bucks on a pair. Ouch, I’m not sure how I do it. pants-from-f21-and-zaraEver since last year I’ve been itching to get a pair of khaki green pants. Zara had them for $54 and it stung a little, especially after paying $8 for a different pair at the previous store. But I bought them. I wanted them. In my shopping cart they went.

Also picked up this cozy knit scarf from a different Zara location, along with some Aveda’s air control hair spray. My fav.aveda-air-control

We went to Hemingways in Yorkville for some grub and stayed for hours just chatting, telling stories and laughing. Thanks for the photo, Amy.hemingways-toronto-blogger-meetupMe, Noreen, Laura, Amy, Erica @ Wastemytime.ca, and Leanne @ Fresh-Season.

I ordered sweet potato fries and the Out of Bounds Chicken Salad.hemingways-menu

It was definitely well worth the trip into Toronto, specifically for the fact that I think I met some life-long REAL friends during this outing. Love to Leanne! I think I should probably make it a monthly occurrence to visit her in Toronto. Whatta ya say.
