My CrossFit Journal (Year 1, week 29)

I had a pretty low week, fitness wise. I worked out 4x but didn’t feel strong, or capable. Didn’t stop me from going. But here’s a summary of last week’s workouts, recapped below:

______________________________________________

year 1, week 29, day one.

SWOD:
Bench Press

3-3-3-3-3

My limit was hit quickly with this bench press. I ended up benching 65lbs 3 times, but when I got to 75 (really should’ve went to 70lbs instead) I couldn’t do 1.  I know my limit at least! lol

Strict Pull-ups
3-3-3-3-3

Strict pull ups are so hard. The end.

WOD:
For Time:
50 Double Unders
100 Hollow Rocks
100 Superman Rocks

We had 15 minutes for this. I ended up completing it 30-ish seconds before the timer went off! YEAH.

year 1, week 29, day two

No shame. This is a photo of me in the women’s change room at CrossFit, after my workout here below:

Hang Clean & Squat
4-4-2-2-2-2

21-15-9
Push Jerk; 135/95lbs
Toes To Bar

If you break any of the push jerks, or toes to bar we were supposed to do 20 double unders, or 20 skips. HAHHAHA So crazy. Everyone was skipping constantly.

I can guarantee that people cheat at CrossFit. They’re only cheating themselves. I just can’t stand it, I know for sure this one person cheats and it drives me nuts. I wonder if the coaches notice, or anyone else?

I ended up finishing this one, seconds before the timer went off. I’m getting mixed up from this workout, from the previous one. I think this one was a 14 minute time limit. I used 55lbs for the Push Jerks, love those!

year 1, week 29, day three Soccer game!

Soccer time!!

Like my CrossFit soccer jersey?

I went to the game. We were a lot of ladies short. It’s required to have 3 females on the field at all times. We had to recruit someone’s sister-in-law to play with us. Even then we were still short, and had 3 females on but no sub’s. So the girls played the whole game.

It was tiring, only because the men have such fancy footwork and I felt like such a tool on the field. I was completely lost and not playing aggressive at all. Though, I did make a few decent speedy runs and hit the ball on the net a few times. I guess it’ll take a few weeks to get back into the groove.

We lost 4-2 I think.

year 1, week 29, day four

I wore my new MPG (Mondetta Performance Gear) clothes to CrossFit this night. I’ll speak more in detail about this next week. But ehh ehh do you like? It’s a Canadian athletic wear company. Hey at least I’m not going to Madison Avenue Mall for furs and wearing that.

SWOD:
4×8 Back Squats

I made it to 75lbs with the backsquats. We had to do it 8 in a row, 4x with varying weights. I decided to amp it to 85lbs and my form was gone. My coach even told me to bump the weight back down and focus on that. It was rough. I’m not strong at all. I’m more of a fan of quick, speedy cardio workouts.  But hey – gotta work on it. Right?

DWOD:
10-1
Front Squat (135/95)
Burpees

This mean: 10 front squats, 10 burpees, 9 front squats, 9 burpees — and count down that way. We had a 15 minute time limit for this one. I used 55lbs for my front squats. My coach again came over to me, noticing how difficult I was finding it. He said to keep going slow as I was, and that it doesn’t matter if I just get down to 6 or 7 reps in the 15 mins. Just focus on lifting properly, and not worrying about speed. Just need to build strenght.

So, I did. I ended up doing ONE front squat on my 5’s as the timer went off. Rough workout.

My CrossFit Journal (Year 1, week 20)

The short:

  • CrossFit x 2
  • 5.35km run

The long (see below)

______________________________________________

year 1, week 20, day one

Linda: Modified
10-1
Dead Lift (1.5 x Body Weight) I used 105lbs
True Push Ups (on the rings!)
Clean (0.75 x Body Weight) I used 55lbs
What 10-1 meant was that we had to complete 10 dead lifts, 10 pushups, 10 cleans. THEN count down and do 9 dead lifts, 9 pushups, 9 cleans… 8, 7, 6 etc. I ended up completing 5 dead lifts and 5 pushups on the rings and the buzzer went off. I didn’t even use “that heavy” of a weight, but I certainly felt it throughout the workout!

year 1, week 20, day two

20 minute time limit

5 Rounds
50 squats
12 chin ups

I came close to finishing the WOD and completed all 4 rounds of the 50 squats, 12 chin ups. I was on my 5th round of squats, and the timer went off. I think I had 5 left or so, then had 12 chin ups left to do.

After this workout I met up with my co-worker and her little boy and we went for a 5.35km run!!

My CrossFit Journal (Year 1, week 17 & 18)

The short:

Last week:

  • One 5k run

This week:

  • 6km run (solo)
  • CrossFit
  • CrossFit
  • 5km run

year 1, week 17, day one

I went out for a run with my co-worker L McMomsie, this day on a trail run! We ended up going for 5.6km in total. Such a good feeling.

Before and after our run. I kind of want to make it a weekly occurrence to go with her on runs! Note to self: tie my hair up prettier next time. Ew.

year 1, week 18, day one

I went out for a solo run today on one of my routes. I ended up running 6km in 38 minutes. I felt slow, even though I sprinted a few times during my run. I dislike those sluggish feeling days.

year 1, week 18, day two

Bear Complex

Buy In:
30 Hollow Rocks
30 Superman Rocks (reverse of hollow rocks)
30 Jack Knives (basically a v-situp)

15 Rounds of Unbroken:
1 Power Clean; 135/95lb
1 Front Squat
1 Push Press
1 Back Squat
1 Push Press

I ended up lifting the most weight I ever have overhead, on this Bear Complex! 65lbs!

We had 25 minutes to complete the “buy in” and then do the entire 15 rounds of the bear complex. I tried to remember my exact time, but it was 23:20-ish.

year 1, week 18, day three

AMRAP 12

12 Push Press; 115/85lbs
12 Chest to bar pull-ups
12 One-legged squats

If you couldn’t do chest to bar’s, you would have to do kipping pullups and instead of 12, we had to do 15!

For the Push Press I used 55lbs in total and I finished two complete rounds and I was on the kipping pullups. I forget how many I did in my third round. I’m going to assume 7 or 8. I had to stop doing them as “fast” because I thought I was going to rip my hand open.

Contrary to your belief, this blood blister is not from the weights. It’s from the pullups. I promise it’s not painful, it just looks that way.

year 1, week 18, day four

Another run with my co-worker L McMomsie. We went on another trail run but at a different location! We ended up doing another 5k. She’s a super trooper (ha! I love that movie by the way) as she completed an hour of Boot Camp before I drove down to meet her for a run!

We even spotted some adorable bunnies (tons of them!) and stopped to snap a photo of a bunny AND A GROUNDHOG! Moses. The things you see…

I definitely worship seating after this week. My poor butt cheeks were sore after that run!
